My 2 children play junior badminton but find the normal size rackets too big. Does anyone know of a local stockist in the Surrey area that supplies junior starter rackets. I would appreciate this information. Vanessa (Streets Heath Badminton Club)

Search for BISI badminton racquets on google.co.uk

They are good (and cheap) racquets for beginners.

How old are the children?

My children are 10 and 8 years old - do you have any recommendations?

Have a look at the Ashaway TM 400 Junior which has been shortened in length by 550mm for Junior players. This can be found at www.ashaway.co.uk and Steven Willis also has a price of £14 on it at www.thebadmintoncoach.co.uk (hope you don't mind Steven)

I don't know who the local supplier is in your area but ashaway should be able to tell you.

I recommend that they try to play with the normal sized rackets, but if they are still struggling then the BISI range are probably the best.

Vanessa,

Hi! try looking at www.sweatband.com - I too am in the market for two BISI rackets and this is the cheapest I have seen them priced so far.

My two children are aged 3 and 2 so, we are expecting them to be used to 'hammer around' in the garden before we get into the confines of a badminton court! But we wanted something purpose built to give them a good start....y'know?

Yes, I do sell the Ashaway TM Junior. These rackets are a little more expensive than the BISI rackets, but are streets ahead of other brands that produce junior rackets. They are very light and look and feel great. They are probably the closest thing you'll find to a short version of your own racket. It's even constructed of Titanium. I certainly wouldn't say they were suitable for 2/3 year olds, or for just bashing around in the garden, but are great for smaller children who are starting to take badminton a little more seriously.
By the way, I certainly agree that it's preferable to give children full-size rackets from as early an age as possible.
