What's the opinion of those "in the know" about who to pick? The boys especially - the girls are a lot easier, but to my mind there are 7 boys in the frame. Do you go with established partnerships, or pick individuals who can perhaps slot in wherever they are needed. Your thoughts please......

who r the seven in ur mind??
and btw who r ya?lol
u bn playin at the east? how ya do?
i reckon they go with versetile players that r a solid pick if u use them at doubles or mixed and others that u will use for ur singles!

Hi DIKO

Yeh, but you can only pick 5...
Obvious choice is Thomas, but then what?
Do you go with singles players like Gordon and Kieran, and one doubles partnership?
If so, which one? Today's results would suggest Pete and Dunc.
Or, do you take two doubles pairs and forget Gogs and Ginge? The other doubles pair should be Stephen and Kenny based on their superior singles ability, even though they didn't make todays final.

Oh and yes I was playing at the east and did really well, thanks for asking!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thomas, Gordon, Stephen, Peter and Duncan

Wat do you think

That would be my personal choice. It's hard to leave Kieran out, but he has been injured for a few weeks so perhaps its better that way. Kenny, although a good player, didn't have good results at the weekend and I was assuming that he would be picked just because he is Stephens doubles partner, but Pete and Dunc really deserve it.
OK, now for us girls.......
My choices are Linda, Jillie, Shona, Shereen and Gillian, although Sheena and Roya are now a definite outside possibility, along with Lynne.
Anybody else got an opinion?
Or even care?

Got to agree with the girls also, they have the results this year. First two pick themselves, Linda for singles and doubles, Jillie for doubles and mixed.

Shona and Shareen have a bit more experience and strength than the next lot mentioned. They also play together winning the dbs at the weekend and would prove back up in the singles to Linda. Shona won singles on Sunday and Shareen won u19 at Grangemouth.

Tho Gillian only 13 (I think) she won u17 singles and doubs this year in Glasgow already (beating Shareen)and been in final of u19 at Midlands (plus won treble at u15). Also beat both Sheena and Lyn at weekend and won u15 mxd.( has played dbs with Linda, Jillie and Shareen in tournaments so offers options)

Sheena played well in mixed at weekend but not in other two events and guess would be Thom/Jillie will be mixed option, tho in individual event could play with Peter.

Roya played well in dbs, bit disappointing in the other two events and has not actually won an event this year..

Lyn did not play on Sunday in later stages unlike all the others altho did win dbs earlier in the year with Gillian.(They might have also won u16 level dbs comp tho info not on web, but think they bt Sheena and partner in that)

Not easy selections but as I said think you got it right with your five, we have to pick players who can win

Team must be picked soon if not already, when is it due out?

Hope the selectors have noticed there are other tournaments on that weekend and the team should be announced to make sure players selected do not enter these tournaments.

U no i totally agree pete n duncan should get a chance n as for kenny he woud jst miss out.boys n my opinion shoud b thomas, gordon, stephen, peter and duncan. i dnt think it would b fare to put kieran in although he may b good enough he hasnt played at all because of injury. Gordon???i would imagine he woud b dreaming of this chance to redeem himself after wot happened last time. Thomas is guaranteed as probs is stephen and pete n duncan wel ther results speak for themselves!

You know you'll get picked trainin, so cut the c***! Anyway, there were some strange results at the weekend - pete & dunc got beat by gordon & kieran, I didnt even know they were playing together! Gillian did her usual solid performance, Peter was great in mixed yet again, boys singles was a complete walkover.
Do you think this will change the team at all?

Kieron did well but obv. still got injury and was nervous when moving. Might be too soon to pick him.
Peter and Duncan did go to three with them and Gordon played well. Peter H very powerful in the mixed, could be picked for that alone.

Girls, Gillian very convincing and excellent mixed play apart from wiinning other two events. Do you think Jennifer is in contention now, height an advantage at doubles.

Altho boys singles was easy win for Gordon at least he always puts himself up for the tournies.

Think maybe some girls who were not unavailable cause of Northumberland were hiding???

Sorry xia, but I can't tell you my identity or else I'd have to kill you! Seriously, my opinions could affect people I care about so that's why I have to remain anon! And I can definitely confirm that I am not Haffa Jaffa, AKA Mark Kyle, or whatever else he is calling himself these days. In fact I consider him a very manipulative individual who seems to be now trying to stir up trouble between the Scots and the English this weekend (not that there wouldn't be a very competitive atmosphere anyway!)

well as i thought, ur ingnorance proves u to be a very bad judge of character. i wont ask what lead u to that asumption but at least my opinions are not 'anon'.

To be honest redkingjoe im not too bothered bout who just lurking is, but i dont appreciate personal jibes, totally un-called for. However i would love to sort it out at a game of half court singles, netty, box or even a game of full court singles. Back to this old 'time and a place' chestnut.
