the best racket for a doubles player is the muscl power 88! and ye i agreephil, set up a poll some one, then u will get a more accureate and easier to read opionion base!

You only agree with Phil because you're both from Scotland. In the same, sinking boat.
Phil produce a poll, and try and include all the badminton rackets people might suggest. Don't forget ASDA's set including 2 rackets, a shuttle and a net now will you.

Would that be the sinking boat thats proping up the UK economy?

The bests are:
1 AT700(for competition)
2 Ti-Swing Power Sx.(for playing and control)
Hisslor
11th January 2005, 16:55
It would be the sinking boat that is full of pride, yet is completely useless at everything. The pride is drowning in Scotland's lack of success in anything, except for maybe a few sports they've come up with which they can then claim to be the best in the world at. Nobody else plays.

I did not agree with Phil because he is Scottish as you can see from past arguemnts over a differeance of opinion, i agreed with Phil because he had the same view point! And sinking boat? Could you not have come up with another analagy?

1 Since poor hisslor is banned, may I try to propose a better analogy here:
Submarine built by Yonex & Lexus that uses H2O for fuel. :D
(Bubs: off-topic, let's get back)
2 Weapon-badminton racket is one of the most important topics in a badminton forum. Visitors/guest/member usually would like to see what the others are using. If all of us put down our "best", that will be great for reference. People can consider the so call "bests" before buying the next one.
3 Please help all of us to try hard preserving the quality of this thread. Please contribute your "best racket" here. :)

Red raises a good point, I have seen quite a few posts asking for advice on rackets. Now, everyone has their own opinion so if a newbie comes on asking about a specific racket they get a myriad of responses which could, potentially be confusing.
is it worth, for the benefit of new visitors (and exisitng users i guess) creating a racket poll with the categories being limited to make and model range. Hisslor did raise one (i counted) useful point in his shortlived "career" on here, which was that the multitude of rackets would make the poll too unwieldy to go all the way down to exact model.
eg
Yonex MP series
Yonex AT series
Yonex Swing Ti series
any thoughts peeps?

1) Carlton Aerogear 1000FX
2) Yang Yang Tactic 9000 - cheap but it plays better than any ATs or MPs or any exotica I ever played with... must be the long isometric head + long shaft. You'll be surprised as to how long Yang Yang rackets are... nothing comes even close.
3) Ashaway Ti-10 - nimble b*****d

On the contrary. It was a great racket with a Gosen non-syntethic gut but it met it's untimely demise in a collision w/ another racket. Unfortunately too because I couldn't find a replacement. My only other gripe is that it was prone to paint chipping.

For me it's Inflight and has been for a long, long time. Very good racquets, i recommend you give them a go if you get the chance!
I play with the Predator 2300 ( i think thats what its called ) and i love it.

Depends on how you define what a good racket is. Rackets aren't supposed to be smashed on any other objects except shuttles. If yours figured with other rackets and didnt break does that mean its good?

Carlton AeroGear 2000 (I think that's what it is) ....
I've been through no end of different racquets with them all snapping a few inches along the shaft (from the handle).
Personally I favour one piece racquets - with no join at the handle (unlike Yonex) .... so I've had Pro-kennex (going back many years), Browning and I've tried various Carltons. So far, so good with the 2000, I've not had any snapping on me yet.
Anyone remember the 3.7X, steel shaft and slightly flattened along its length? I once had one of them snapping mid smash, the head and half the shaft went flying into the ceiling .... thankfully I've never hit anyone with the broken bit ....
I suppose I should point out that the snapping isn't due to clashes with partners equipment ....

Before this i'm using Yonex MP77. but it seems that a convensional frame doesn't suits me.. i prefer a widebody racquet. and one more thing ...right now i'm looking forward to get a new Yonex NANO7000.
Have feel the racquet at the kiosk during Malaysian Open last week. The weight just suits me.

Hey, that's fine; everybody has different preferences. I was just wondering. The NanoSpeed 7000 is supposed to be the hot ticket! I played a few vollies with one. However, since that was about 4 months ago, I don't really remember how it felt. Although I do remember being impressed with it.

I've been very happy with my new Ashaway Nano Superlight. It's got a really nice feel and balance, very easy is to use and has got absolutely bag fulls of power.
I had previously been using a Yonex MP 88, which was not too bad either. But I do I prefer the Nano SL and get you can them for less than £60! got mine from www.pro-badminton.com (http://www.pro-badminton.com). One thing to note if you're buying an ashaway racket, apparently they all come with G2 size grips so you will probably need to get a decent thickness grip unless you are a lady / younger player.
Cheers me dears! :)

Also use an ashaway Ti130 as a reserve which is not bad if you are looking for something a bit cheaper. Possibly would reccomend for club level players rather than much else.

I have top say that Forza are the best rackets I have used (as far as I can remenber) over the years I nhave played with carlton, kennex, wilson, proace ashaway, talbot, fukuda and classico. I will be interested to see if anyone knows the latter two brands!! I got them for cost what else can a junior do!!
I had to make a decision about buying rackets and I tried at 800 of and they are rubbish, I tried the mp99 which was pretty nice but a bit heavy tried the mp88 but again was ok but not great. I got a trial forza ti 12 04 and as soon as I played it was great. Not too heavy not too light just right. Good balance good flex lovely stuff, would recomned anyone try this brand out. Even when I had a problem I emailed the company and within 3 hours the managing director had replied personally. I challange any other company to match that.
forza, its the future!!!!!
but seriously give it a shot.

Just out of curiosity are people listing rackets they use now or are listing rackets they have used in the past and remember fondly because they felt it was a killer but nothing has matched their memories of it?
I loved the TT Flex to bits because of the power it gave when i moved from the Carlton AG600 to the top of the line TT Flex which was a Christmas gift, but still like using the Carlton 85g fom the same era and it still seems to suit my game even now.
My normal rackets are now NS8000's which i find quite simillar to the AT700's (dont ask why) which i used since they came out in the UK but will always remember the TT Flex because it was just undeniably explosive and like no other racket out at the time, nothing could touch it.

sadly i do not play anywhere near enough to change my racket just yet
and as i upgraded to a AT800 Off when they came out, i am gonna have to wait a while for a new one. Luckily after a little slow start I am now getting on well with my AT800. It seems that the difference was chaning the stringing. by going up to 24lb i seem to have far more control without sacrificing the inherent power the AT800Off generates.
in terms of old rackets, i still have my Yonex ISO Swing Power long. it is a fantastic racket and any night i am having a bad time of it and the shuttle refuses to do as i ask, i go back to it and things cant help but improve!

I've been using Kason Carvel U3 and the racket is so light and incredibily fast. Only weights 77g. I strung it at 30-32lbs. Anyone use the same racket? Have any comments or different suggestions?

yonex is more expensive than the rest of the brands...nevertheless, a lot of the money charged to the rackets are spent on sponsering national or international badminton events like All England

Yes, it's old technology, but it's reliable and has the best balance of all. I can always use it with ease even after months of using another racquet.
