me and my wife went to japan. we had a lunch next to a beautiful lake. she ordered the recommended special local fresh catch lake fish shushi from the manual. so, after ten minutes the following was on our table:

a dish of fresh shushi with all the fish meat taken away from the fish leaving the whole fish (head, bare bone and tail still completely sticking together) lying on the dish next to its meat.

when my wife was eating the shushi, the fish's eyes were staring at us...the mouth was still moving...the tail suddenly moved

(ps. i don't eat shushi)

Must have been the wind. Whilst my fish anatomy studies have tailed (yes a deliberate pun) off in the last few years, surely with bare bone only, there would be no muscle left to move the tail??

i LOVE sushi

i LOVE sushi

i have no idea with fish anatomy but i remember very clearly the tail moved strongly once and the movement occured when the waiter was trying to take the dish away. the movement was a bit "large" such that i noticed the move and heard the sound which also made the more scary impression to me.

another time that i had seen horrible sushi was in HK. my wife ordered a fresh pacific lobster sushi...again, the lobster's meat was completely taken out(this time no bone between the head and tail). when my wife was enjoying the meat...the lobster stared at us and the antenna kept swinging....at the end the head and the tail were used to cook japanese congee(rice soup), very tasty...

if u LOVE sushi, it's a must to try taking sushi in this kind of set up to appreciate the best sushi in the world. coz i was told that the taste of these fresh meat is much much sweeter on the one hand and on the other hand it gives u a better "bite feel".
