Whoops - up late last night and put this in the wrong section. Just about current still, though!
Apparently Saturday and Sunday are sold out at the All England. What a chance for badders.com (or get the BAofE or should it be BE?) to place a flyer on each seat before the public arrive, imploring the occupant to go to either's website and sign the petition demanding more media coverage. Just needs a bit of photocopying and a few volunteers to "deliver" them.
Things are looking up though! Gail Emms was actually interviewed on Radio 4's Today programme yesterday and very bright and eloquent she was. Mind you in "The Times" a feeble Women's Cricket story had twice the coverage of the All England - and how many women cricketers are out there? Probably not in 4 figures! It's this kind of ridiculous inequality that the BAofE should tackle head on.

Problem is the seats are flip down and if you put a flyer on them it would fall off because the seat is in a constant up position unless someone is sitting on it.
Maybe a pile at each of the stalls or just plain handing them out at the door or placing them on windscreens in the car park (assuming it does not rain)

Intrigued or actually rather puzzled to see that the Saturday Sports Telegraph featured half a double page spread on an up and coming young tennis player - he was hoping to break into the worlds top 200!!!! Top coverage of a major sporting British sporting event guys.

We asked the BA of E for permission to do this a little while ago and unfortunately we weren't allowed.
The official reason was something to do with upsetting Yonex and breaking the rules of trading and advertising at the event.

Even though the event was sold out there were still quite a few empty seats in the hall, no doubt they will measure this seasons tournament on revenue which indicated all seats were filled rather than actual bums on seats.
Upsetting Yonex? It might be time to have a word with Yonex UK and just exclude Badminton England altogether until there is an arangement in place between yourselves and the sponsor.

It is not necessarily BE's fault as Yonex have them tied up in a great deal of 'monopolistic practices'. Yes, maybe it wasn't wise to become so restricted in the first place and yes, maybe there are alternative sponsors, but that is another debate.
For example, no party except for Yonex can sell anything at the event without the explicit permission of Yonex. That includes all the stall holders who have spent thousands of pounds on their stand promoting their products and brands. They are not even allowed to offer promotional vouchers that can be used away from the event.
How many other lines besides Yonex to Central Sports offer in their store at the event? That'll be zero then.
