Hey dude,
Can anyone tell me why the guests always go to "view user profile" frequently?

Maybe they want to see the user profile of that person?

hey banks(it's cool to be called banks as most of the ppls in the modern world are working for the banks life-long to settle for their mortgage, hehehe !!!),
thank you. but, you know.... not much things to read in the profiles....and there are lots & lots of ppls viewing

Personally, I use the profile a great deal just to see if they have their real name in. I reckon there must be new people on here everyday just looking to find out more about posters, let's face it, most of the names on here don't give much away with their username eh red? ;)

yeh, i also like to check with real names but most of the ppls are just lurking...having said that there r really high rate of "viewing user profile" by guests...so you mean most of the guests are quite new...
(btw, do you think SS will create a special label for 500+ posts or you don't really care? )

I have always assumed that guests read the posts and then try and find out a bit more about the person posting? as they cant pm them and ask they only have the profile to turn to.
Also, is it not true there is a way of logging on "invisible", I think McB mentioned it in another post. If you log on invisible then you may show as guest on the "whos online" page. however, the reason for veiwing the profile will always be the same. the vain attempt to find out more about a person. some profiles have more in than others after all.

this morning, at around 7am , i tested that: with 2 members and 2 guests showing on the "count thingy". it only showed that me and 2 guests reading what but not me and 3 guests reading and the "invisible" member were not counted as guest.

I had always put that discrepancy down to the moderator (SS) being logged in and the count including him as a member.
I just checked now and that is not the case so I guess you are right. well it was worth a shot.
I guess the non-registered are just trying to find out more about the members we have in here.

Perhaps people who are registered members but have just come on to have a look are not logging in? I know i dont sometimes, i only log in when i want to reply?!

I have an answer!!!
one of my old Uni cronies was trying to get in contact with me. he googled my name, Google came up with this place, he came on the site, BROWSED MY USER PROFILE, and emailed me!

Personally although I visit the site at various times of the day I for one don't log on unless I am going to reply to a post or start a new one.
Yes I am one of those who look at peoples profiles and also see who is around and 'online' at any one time.
It doesn't really matter who is or isn't because no one ever pm's me so I don't have to go on line as I said unless I am posting.
I suspect that I am one of many who follow suit.
I do wish that people who register would 'dip the proverbial toe' and test the water and find how things go even if its dragging an old post out of the grave or asking what may appear a mundane question.
