im very surprised that no1 has started a topic about this. any1 no why not?

Sorry lads but I hav 2 say England doesnt stand a chance in the u15 Quad this year!
Ireland has it in the bag!!

CUM ON IRELAND! :D

feeder
17th April 2005, 17:54
You really think that Ireland can do anything? England or Scotland to win or even Wales for an upset. I heard that Wales beat everyone at the Celtic Challenge and the best Irish are there!

Jens
17th April 2005, 21:49
The Celtic Challenge is jus a warm up compition 4 da Irish. We will cum out top dis year at da Quad. Wait and see....

CUM ON IRELAND! :D

Badboy

Englands put in quite a young team u-14 squad, but they should be able to carry their own

feeder
18th April 2005, 07:27
If Ireland think warming up by loosing to Wales is prearation for Quad then its SCOTLAND all the way !!! Easy :p

R England good enough at U14 ...

Thumb
18th April 2005, 12:46
just member half the Scotland team are also u14 but picked on merit.

England can pick who they like but at the end of the day if they
lose don't come back with the excuses of a young team

may the best team win (GO SCOTLAND)

With all these u14's playing is it too much of a risk. Ireland and Wales have strong u15 players and some Welsh boys even win in English Gade 2 competitions. That dutch boy playing for the weslh is good.
Still think the team in blue will win to.

Badboy
18th April 2005, 22:22
How have they done in the selects, as some of the England players do punch above their weight and are european champions at their age, do the scottish, welsh or irish have such credentials?

Badboy, how can England have European champions at that age -
there are no European Championships for that age group.

They may have won a tournament in Europe with
invited entrants, that does not make them European
champions

they may not have european champions but they are certainly better than the welsh scottish or irish people of that age. especially gabby white. She would razz all of u otha ppl up.

19th April 2005, 11:59
i agree in my opinion i think that if england put out a full team with the likes of gabby white, rich morris, England would win easily at half pace, and thats why England have put an u14 team out because it would not help with the development of the full age u15 England players, and would very pointless, especially for the likes of gabby as she is easily one of if not the best in europe!

Shabba69
19th April 2005, 13:52
i know that England have entered some u13's to play in the event as well!!!

Badboy
19th April 2005, 15:43
What i meant was that some of the u-14's entered were european champions last year, not current but for their age group u-14 they are still the best in europe until proved otherwise. And the two u-13's, Panuga is a very talented singles player who does go to a sort of badminton boarding school and so has improved dramatically and sarah is the next best u-13. But as some one else said, for these its all about experiance rather then the winning, im sure they look at it that way too.....

Shabba69
19th April 2005, 16:07
I agree with u, everyone needs experience to win, you need to practise everyday to show determination if you are serious about the sport, don't u think? I agree the u-14s are the best until proven otherwise. Panuga has improved dramatically I feel.

Scotland2004 or Mr Campbell. I have seen you play Rich Morris more than once this season, but I forget tell me, what is your cutrent form against him? how many matches have you won against how many he has won against you??:
I do think however you will be too strong for the England U14's you will come across at the quad!
And Wilf remind me, how many times have you represented your country to date??

Wilf. You seem to be talk talk talking as if you are actually a good player.

Arthur, Jamie, Victor, Robert, Nigel, Kamran, Daniel, Jack.

Correct me if im wrong because im finding it difficult to understand the ages and rankings, but is that not 8 boys that are ranked higher than you in doubles? and roughly near enough the same names and numbers with mixed?

And seen as you're '****e' at singles I'd say you're nothing special. You should perhaps worry about beating boys in your own country first before even thinking about who u can and can't beat in the rest of the UK. I think you should perhaps win a national title or have a decent european ranking and then gibber on as if you know whats happening.

No no its not just about experience for Panuga she wants to win thats why she has just won the under 15 quadrangular in Ireland

She won because she wants to win - hmmm, interesting! So you only win if you want it enough?

I really want to win the lottery this Wednesday do you think it'll happen?

I think you'll find that she was the best player in that hall at that time, that is why she won - nothing else. To think that she wanted it more than the others is a bit odd.

No, not lots of players but mentally weak players give up. You can tell a lot about players by their body language and also you can see what is inside when they play, their heart shines through and you can tell players apart when the games get hard.

To have said she won because she wnated it more is just plain ridiculous, the vasy majority of the players involved wanted to win, some would go in thinking that they had an outside chance but for one person to be head and shoulders above the rest solely because they wanted it more is a bit wide of the mark. There would be players there who thought themselves invincible. Not everyone mind but for those in their first competition of this calibre they might have been a bit nervous but they would still wanted to win above all else.

i didnt say that u can b head and shoulders above the rest by wanting it more, but it can spur u on that extra bit. If you took 2 identical players in ability and said one of them wanted it more u wud think that person wud win wouldnt u?

No, there are more variables to take into account than ability Wilf. You cannot account for the individual.

Not to the extent you are taking it and if you are trying to prove it then you are onto a loser.

Scientifically there are too many variables to consider in a match to give anything which is heresay a fair chance to the extent of it being able to make that much of a difference.

If two people are playing it will very rarely come down to this (the only way this could ever make a difference is if two identical twins were playing and they both had the same rackets, coaching etc, or in fact a mirror image of yourself is the only way you could prove it), more often at this level it comes down to skill, fitness, stamina, technique etc. In other words who is the best player not who wants it more.

Well in the case of it not being a determining factor what are you going on about then?

In life you can control the constants not the variables so why bother worrying about them. In other words we try and control the things that we have direct and indirect influence over to an extent, things we can keep constant or control. We should not try and control variables because for the most part cannot control them or cast influence.

I would still like to hear exactly what Michael R meant then.

Especially at junior level when there can be such a range in ability. Trying to join in the philisophical side of the arguement here, i dont know if i would class desire as a variable afterall, it is us who decides how much you want to win.

I mean a variable in the form that it would even change from point to point, there is no way to be constant in the drive for a game as other thoughts enter your mind ie. I missed an easy net kill, I hit it out etc.

Especially at that age

There is no way even as adults we can keep the same drive (mentally) going for a whole best of 3 to 15, we cannot keep the same drive physically and get more and more tired as the games go on so it would have a hand in hand effect on the mental side of the game.

And now for a sixth

Take Nathan Robertson as an example, an excelent player but loses the mental edge and his concentration goes, but I would say his drive is there to begin with but it goes along with his concentration. And he is at the top of the game so there is no questioning his drive to win since his financial viability depends on it.

i agree in my opinion i think that if england put out a full team with the likes of gabby white, rich morris, England would win easily at half pace, and thats why England have put an u14 team out because it would not help with the development of the full age u15 England players, and would very pointless, especially for the likes of gabby as she is easily one of if not the best in europe!
Has this not helped the under 14's I mean Enland did they not win do you know who one the singles events
