View Full Version : Question for Scottish Coaches

Although this question is directed mainly at coaches, it might be helpful to receive general responses from other members.
As mentioned before, there is now a website set up for a badminton hall in Glasgow called the cockburn centre. We are considering whether it might be useful to allow visitors to contact coaches via the cockburn site - that is, have a list of Scottish coaches, with a short description of their experience and availability, and also a form with which visitors might arrange coaching sessions. The form could be set up so that enquiries are sent via the site to the appropriate coach's mobile phone by means of a free SMS service (form > email > SMS) or we could set up webmail for them. I assume that it would be agreeable to most coaches, as it would probably increase their bookings.
I'd appreciate any feedback. You can also email me for more details via this forum.
Incidentally, the website's url is www.cockburncentre.com

£20 says you do not get one response from any coach registered on the SBU list!
They even manage to have courses running in the academy without certain prominent advanced level coaches knowing about it and not invited.
Harsh but warranted!

The SBU have a coaches register, when you pay your fee you are a member for one year and they field your name out to people looking for a coach.

So there's not a publicly viewable list?

No, but to be fair there are some coaches who are just too busy to be put on any list since they seem to be in high demand and would not be available to coach.
So what names do you need? You would have to get every individual involved in the registers consent to use their name.

I guess it would be more of interest to coaches who are not busy with squads like those at the Glasgow School of Sport.

Well there is that but you need to remember many coaches are contracted to the city council on different hours worked criteria the majority being 17 1/2 hours per week.
It might be a good idea if the centre management would go out their way to walk the 150 metres and ask them about it rather than you getting landed with all this work, especially if your finals are near.
