View Full Version : Karma System II

We are going to start a pilot for a 'Karma' system of points scoring for members depending on their reputation in the forum.

The system is supposed to be fun rather than serious and anyone taking it too seriously will be stripped of points and beaten with sticks.

Each post includes an icon in the lower left corner (pair of scales). When you hold your mouse over it is says "Add to [username]'s reputation." If you click on it, you'll be taken to a form. You can either add to a user's reputation (I approve) or subtract from it (I disapprove).

In order to leave reputation points, you must have at least 10 reputation and 50 posts.

You can only leave 20 reputation feedbacks per day, and you must leave 10 reputation feedbacks to other people before you can affect any given user again.

Select the appropriate option, and then type in a comment and click "Add to reputation".

You can see what your reputation is and how many reputation points you have by clicking on the scale in any of your own posts.

Now to keep this fair an accurate...we have set limits.

For every 90 days as a member, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

For every 150 posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

For every 50 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? 50

How much reputation must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? 10

How many reputation clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? 20

How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? 10

A USER'S REPUTATION WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT ON THE BOARDS, POST QUALITY, THREAD STARTS, ETC.

Examples:

Act like a jackass and upset a few people... you points.

Site Support have the ability to award, or remove reputation points at will.

The scoring system is being 'tweaked' as the pilot progresses. Currently the rating is 0-7 with everyone starting on 2. The green lights are an indication as to your reputation level and don't relate to the exact number of points you have i.e. You don't get a green light for every point you go up.

Currently, everyone on the board starts with a reputation level of 10 - You can build from there.

So as you can see, user participation counts. It's up to you to determine your reputation.

Good Luck.

Site Support

Just like to ask about this since the thread was closed!

If we look at our user CP we see three available karma nominators beside our posts

(i) Green
(ii) Red
(iii) Grey

The first two would be self explanitory in positive and negative feedback but what about the grey ones? I thought it might be a mix of positive and negative but some are even, some very positive etc so there is no balance between the greys.

And how did you get to eight in a system to seven? Are you tweaking things? :)

you know you can get " karma marks" on how good your posts are etc. well Site support stated that the highest possible is level 7 (you are 4 btw) however both Phil and i have noticed that Site support have level 8 karma - very impressive considering the highest possible is 7, you see.

The Forsaken thinks the point might have been about the grey boxes, nothing else.

It is possible you are quite right, but as somebody who types in the third person (dont get me started on how ridiculous that is) and yet signs off in the first person, I cant see that you are positioned to call ANYONE an idiot.....

The Forsaken thinks you still don't see the point, do you have a stick or a dog?

The Forsaken believes that it emphasises the point made if the rules of the English language are applied!
