Hi, i m kinda new to this forum... and im kinda confused in string tension... x.x I wanna know if more tension is for POWER or CONTROL... cuz I went to 2 sports shops and both of them are telling me 2 differents things. So I just wanna get it clear in my head... so more tension is for POWER or CONTROL :S

The Forsaken suggests both are correct because there is a trade off involved - one for the other.
The normal range of tension for an average club player is 21-23lbs which should be fine giving the best balance between power and control.
If you increase tension from this mean you increase control but lose a bit of power, if you decrease from this tension you increase power but lose control.
The Forsaken would like to point out if you increase to a tension of around 30lbs you need to perfect your technique because you decrease the sweetspot of the racket meaning that it is less forgiving and your game needs to be better giving the professionals the edge because their technique is where the power comes from, however don't see decreasing your tension as a way to give you more power if you are more of a club player - this is all relevant to each individual case and each individual player based on their technique and assuming they have found a racket that suits them.

The Forsaken thinks this information is nonsence. FACT!
"Ball speed" and "ball control" are not phrases applicable to badminton!
The Forsaken would think this applies to the more popular tennis as opposed to the slightly less popular squash and therefore the tensions even at a minimum are far higher that even the maximum ever gaurenteed in a badminton racket which would be the Carlton AS1 which was able to be strun to 40lbs.
Also the gauges of string are different in each sport with tennis the thickest then squash then badminton.

The Forsaken does have wisdom. "ball" does not apply to badminton. Facts!
however, we have been testing the correlation between tension, speed, power, control etc. for two years with 2 Yonex Ti-swing SX(keep the racket variable constant) using same string type(BG68 ti), same shop and same guy stringing with same machine. we started with 21LB vs 22lb and 22 vs 23, 23 vs 24, 24 vs 25, 25LB vs 26LB untill we were happy with 27LB.
but than when we started using BG65(thicker gauges), it's real good to be around 29LB, 30LB
so even though the chart used "ball's term" and missed the gauges thingy, i found the chart a good referance for badminton string tension within an effective tension range.
