View Full Version : The Admiral Is Not A Racist

Admiral

The Admiral would like to make it clear that he is not a racist!

It's ironic that site support can close a thread about inappropriate comments, but feel it's acceptable to leave a disgraceful post from nazigoreng that calls another member a racist!!

Outrageous....The Admiral is not amused!!

Why are you using the third person? Does this absolve you of any responsibility of content somehow?

Admiral
23rd September 2005, 14:53
Does it make The Admiral a racist?

Rodrigues
23rd September 2005, 15:22
It's a style thing. Sounds patronising, aloof, detached and is it really necessary? And is it fact or fiction? Or perhaps you're a hack/writer and not used to the first person? That's all. I'm sure the Admiral will have the last word though!

Admiral
23rd September 2005, 15:25
It may sound all of the above in fact you're not doing a bad job yourself, however you failed to answer The Admirals question!

Site Support has the last word you will find.

Have no idea about that racist stuff at all, Horatio.

The Forsaken
23rd September 2005, 19:04
The Forsaken uses the third person and does it makes his views any less than any of the amateur hackers in this forum who have never reached a high standard of play?

I feel the Admiral has had a bit of a bashing the same way the monkey used to get in here in a bygone age of people being hypocritical and hiding behiind comments like "he started it" "your a racist" and so on and so forth based on miss interpritation of words.

I would warrant with a name like "nazigoreng" given the only context you can take that in what would your opinion be of them?

Come on read the posts in context and then have a go if you can actually try and read an entire thread or post and make a response.

The Forsaken suggests that shutting down the other thread was a bit off was it not?

If I'm not mistaken, nasigoreng is an Indonesian breakfast dish.

Quite correct but I was talking from my dyslexic standpoint and the funny thing is in that post, that was the only portion you chose to comment on...............

Proves a point nicely, no?

Hey bubs,

Shall we start a poll: the admiral is not a racist?

The Forsaken
25th September 2005, 12:58
Hey bubs,

Shall we start a poll: the admiral is not a racist?

The Forsaken suggests that you cannot start a poll by making a statement. If you want to start a poll you would have to pose a question like:

Is the Admiral a racist?

What you have done is put a question mark after a statement! It does not turn it into a question.

I still agree with Horatio. FACT!

I would suggest "The Forsaken" and "The Admiral" are the same person, some retired badminton player, plying his trade in Premier B for Kent. Southern Monkey did get a bit of a battering on here....but he was the start of the end of this forum, fortunately its picked up again but for a while it went through some 'dark days'. Lets not go back to them!

There was a time when all players and fans joined in with some very interesting and fascinating views and topics, anyone from someone who's never played to Nathan Robertson or Anthony Clark. If I remember correctly Clark was signing on whilst in Japan for a tournament. Then after Southern Monkey had his digs and gripes at BAofE the site went down hill for a while, with many posts being edited by Site Support.

I don't have a problem with people using foney names, but don't be a tosser over it, there's never any need for arogance or belittling people just because you've reached a certain level. Congratulations for reaching whereever you did, but just because you've reached that level doesn't make you a bigger or better human being than "the rest of the hackers on here".

And one final word.....lets not start a poll over whether people think he's a racist....lets just hope that anything said was misconstrued and that in fact whoever you are Admiral - we'll asume you're not a racist.......and that hopefully you are a nice guy....like most or all people on this site!!!! :)

And so is The Forsaken probably as they're all probably one of the same.

I think the Forsaken is a bit mad actually (but still not a patch on me) as he works in my Head office in London, the Monkey is certainly not the Admiral nor the Forsaken they are all individuals.

I could give you names but that would just be silly

The Red figure turely believes that the Forsaken is very different from the usual ordinary ppl but he is not a bit mad at all. He is special. Facts.

please don't give that out unless they have agreed or that's publicly known!!

nasi goreng(indonesian fried rice) is normally for lunch or dinner...fried rice is a bit too heavy for breakfast but a lot of breakfast buffet(especially hotel) does serve nasi goreng...my domestic helper is from indonesia and she can cook good nasi goreng...yummy :D

btw, i think everyone is entitled to pick his nick name for a forum purpose(except the nick is offensive)...the nick is merely a reflection of personal taste or whatever meaningful to the individual...we should not discount someone's opinion because of his nick, skin color, nationality, gender, age...

i found similarity between the Forsaken and the Admiral...they are nice...very nice

they are entitled to their opinions, and i do respect their opinions very much even though i might not agree with them everytime...it's a diverse world and we are neither communist nor totalitarian

i have suggested starting a poll mostly for purpose of giving a chance to the forum public to give some feedbacks to the Adimral so that he might take notice of his public image...and well , partly for fun(hehehe)

Lewisio...I can assure you that The Admiral has no other aliases. He is his own man and will stick by everything he has written!

I know the forsaken, and yes he is a nice chap.

I do not know admiral though, so i guess they are different people!

The way I see it, peoples views will often differ to others, and will also be open to interpretation.

bottom line, someone took offence to a post, SS acted accordingly and deleted the post. End of story. A single comment does not make someone, racist, sexist etc.

SO.............

Lets all get over it and get back to what this site is all about, poking fun at McBride.

No, You know of "The Forsaken"

Lets all get over it and get back to what this site is all about, poking fun at McBride.

The Forsaken agrees, let us all have a swipe at McSporran as he has to work today like the rest of us, Scottish holiday indeed, pull the other one jockko!

hey bubs,

can someone explain to me the reasons, pros and cons of using "the third person" in posting like those that have been posted by the Forsaken and the Admiral?

Red,

there is no reason for it, beyond the fact they like it.

Some people might claim that they like it as it gives them an inflated opinion of their own self-importance but not me

noooooooooooooooo

;)

Others have also claimed that putting a header at the foot of every post or even a graphic gives you "an inflated opinion of your own self-importance" but not The Admiral

Loafer

Interesting,

I wonder why? I mean, referring to yourself in the third person has roots in giving the impression that you are not conversing with people directly, due to the fact those conversing with you are unworthy of you talking directly to them.

not quite sure how me quoting vast literary talents is the same. I would like to meet these people, as an informal student of psychology, to understand how these convey the same thing as it is not something I had found written anywhere.......

it does sound interesting to me using third person style...

my understanding is: ppls in HK/US/UK generally prefer the Queen's English...ie talk poshly(hehehe)...let me check the diff between the Amiral's english and the Queen's english

thanks
