Anyone got news on who won at the East of Scotland at meadowbank last weekend? Can't find any results on the badScotland website.

Gents singles: Gilliland beat Hoggan
Ladies singles: Graham beat Gilliland
Gents doubles: Forbes/Kerr beat Anderson/Thomson
Ladies doubles: Blair/Gilliland beat Campbell/Young
Mixed doubles: Blair/McKay beat Laing/Hill

Think that's right results anyway!

It would have been interesting if Susan Hughes and Yuan Wemyss had been given wild cards to play in the mens event, the way they have for the Glasgow Championships later this month, although it looks like their inclusion has put off a number of men entering. I wonder why that could be?

any of the regulars who do not enter are just
running scared

Will be interesting to see how the women do against good male opposition. Do they train regularly with men? I see the girls in the high performance squad train with the lads. How important is this for bulding strength and speed? Or is the gents and ladies game completely different?

Are you guys serious about the women playing the mens event?
Does anyone else think this is ridiculous?

I agree it is totally ridiculous that woman are being allowed to play in mens event. Further embarrassment for the Scottish game.

I wonder if they will let men enter the womans draw?

Its a numbers game, our top two ladies dont have the same
number of ladies to play against - we have a smaller population
and its a good option to offer them hard games before the Commonwealth
games

Didn't hear much laughter from South of the Border when Yuan Wemyss
beat Tracey Hallam recently. Also are our top two not ranked higher
than all other English players with the exception of Tracey.

Let us choose our own preparation for our two top players and
lets see who is the top ladies singles player in Britain after say
another year.

Let them play against men in training and in routines but in competition the men should destroy them, and if they dont they should be ashamed. There is no way that they have the strength or speed to keep up. I do realise that they are ranker a lot higher in the world that the men, but they should still be nowhere close. If they are not knocked out in the first round, there is something wrog with the men they are playing.

Depends on their draw I guess. They shouldn't get anywhere near the top 5 guys or so but they'll give the rest a game.

We really need one of the Scottish girls make the Olympic team to give Scottish badminton a boost. Currently, Susan would make it but they can't be complacent and really need to work on getting their ranking top 20.
