You could do a list of the best-known eurpean juniors, but its not an measure of who's best ( Most potential, most wins, most frquent appearences???) . For under 15 and 17's there's no way of knowing who's out there as they aren't all playing a set tournament circuit .

alex sim-u having a laugh, he has never won or got anywhere in tournaments.

scott evans at 2, i'd say he could be top 20 but not number 2.

never heard of Marco Pyykonen, Daniel Grassmuck, Ernesto Valazquez , Hallstein Oma-who are they?!

lo ying ping isn't under 19 this year.

i think there's a few players that could make that list like england's ben beckman who has beaten a few of the players in that list like conrad and gilliland, and nearly beat emil vind. another player is gabriel ulldahl,a swedish player.

Its from EBU sources so everybody on the list must have done something in EBU senior or junior tournaments. Maybe you need to check your facts as your attention seems focused on a small knowledge base.

Checked with my source and the info is from following tournaments

1. EBU Senior Circuit
2. EBU Junior Tournaments

I think most of those names you don't know performed well in the Finlandia Cup including Must, Grassmuck, Pyykonen, Sim, Valazquez and Oma. I do also know that the No.20 Pavel Florian beat Ben Beckman at last summers EBU summer school tournament. It seems Scott Evans is inside the IBF 100 and in fact was in the final of the EBU Hungarian Senior Open this year. Not bad going for someone who might make your top 20!

i'm not doubting that scott evans is in top 20, but who participated in the finlandia cup? did jan play or any of the top english boys or domke?don't think so. i never said anything about must, i think he is a good player getting to danish cup final, very impressive, pushing jan into setting in 2nd set.

also, if you look at the european ranking list, many of those players aren't on list like jan because they don't play all the tournaments like for example florian does.

in the european summer school, it was up to 21 points, 1 game. not fair representation don't you think?!

and as you are being pedantic, at langenfeld florian beat saber afif, so shouldn't he be above saber? ellis beat yuhan tan at langenfeld so should he be above him?

What about the top U17 Juniors in Europe? Who are they?

The Expert

The facts are these, many nations outside of England have good strong players, Raul Must is one of the most impressive of the new breed, particulary beating Wacha in straight sets at the Thomas Cup yesterday. England are protected behind the false screen of the 6 and 8 nations and the top under 19's are fiddling about playing in junior tournaments thinking they are the real deal. Europe should now be organised on an open competition basis as I am in no doubt that countries like Turkey at under 17 and Estonia at U.19 amongst others would give them a fright. Denmark is now very aware of the threat from these countries and you should wake up and smell the coffee!

Because the top English boys were not in a tournament means nothing to the up and coming nations. Just like seeing English players in an EBU doesn't cause everyone to pack in and go home because they simply are not that highly rated.

This is why England have such difficulties in mens singles, boys think they are great and when they come out into the real world of EBU tournaments (never mind IBF) and get beaten by a few Finns, Czechs and German league players suddenly they realise that Lagenfeld etc etc means nothing at all give in and go off into the sunset...

Your shock and horror at the suggestion that Finnish, Norwegian, Irish, Czech or Spanish players can be any good is nice to see, this is the reason that English players underperform in the serious competitions. I am sure Tom Dunlop walked out against Kevin Cordon of Guatamala thinking it was in the bag during the last junior worlds, as we all know it didn't work out that way!

I see England were not involved in this tournament. They would be number 1 as a team wouldn't they? Also how do the rankings go for individuals in u17, in all disciplines?

The Expert

Management was maybe too worried to enter them in case they got beat by Turkey or some other nation off the radar screen. At least Denmark entered and showed what they were made off and thats why they are European U17 Team Champions!

Sweden are just as bad that's why their seniors have slipped so badly in recent years.

Maybe next year all European nations will enter and we will all see whats really happening in U17.

As far as England being the best, step up and show us all!

Thank you The Expert for saying it clearly like it is.

The arrogance is astounding of some young English as you state

' They would be number 1 as a team' by Yonexgirl

You are so right Expert - prove it and we will then applaud them

Did they not assume the same before the last European Junior and
finished 6th

Also the arrogant attitude is why they lack support from other nations

i never stated that england are the best team in europe as they clearly aren't because they didn't win the european team event. i don't think the reason that england singles ;players fail at adult international because they are too arrogant in themselves to realise how good other countries players are. maybe they lose motivation or realise a stable job is a better line of income. if what you think is correct and england players think they are the best so fail at adult international level, what about our doubles and mixed record recently, as our players are doing well in the transition.

the singles and doubles players are equal at junior level yet senior level is different, and i don't think it is because they are too arrogant to realise they aren't the best.
