I attended the English Nationals this weekend, but apart from some very good badminton. One thing perplexed me, something that noone i knew could answer so i'm hoping someone out there can assist me. How come there were entrants in the English Nationals from Jersey, yet they (Jersey people) can go to the Commonwealth games representing Jersey. Surely they either play in the Nats and represent England or they don't play in the Nats because they are from Jersey. I have no problem with them playing, however it just confuses me how they can do both????

I don't hink there is a BA of Jersey, therefore Jersey clubs might be
in the BA of England, which could mean that members of those clubs can play in the English Nats.
If however the Channel Islands are a member of the Common Wealth
by there own right, and the CW rule is that athletes represent CW
member nations rather than NSA's, then you have the answer.

Mind, the reverse applies to English athletes representing Britain in
the Olympics. In the Olympics athletes represent OC's rather than
countries.
