Although i never considered myself a singles player, i did have one in this category. they called him ' the bird man of alcatraz' a guy by the name of eddie murty (no not murphy!!). he was the most boring player ever and he just played like a sponge, soaking everything up, it drove me crazy.
in gents, my great irish mate peter ferguson of old, was my true bogey man!!! miss peter and his crack still after 20 years. play him flat and fast and he would match you all day.

LOL, Remember seeing you lose to him @ Grangemouth i think, one of your few ventures on to a singles court. He had a strange service action if i remember correctly.
Remember Peter too, another leftie like yourself. He could certainly talk and joke Dan off the court. He was in Irish schools team when i played them in the Quadrangular in Cardiff. Also Tony Gallagher and i beat him and Billy Thompson in Semis of the Sunblest Open in Coleraine about 83/84. We then lost to Dan and Nigel Teir in final.
I always had trouble playing Dougie McBriar!! I enjoyed playing Charlie Gallagher, took him to 3 ends twice in succesive Invitation Singles competitions.
