Is that just the best....or worst 1st round draw ever.......Lin Dan vs Taufik in the opening game of the Super Series!!!!
I'd say if there is a Super Series final......then I would say that this opening game, could just be the closing game.
TheChosenOneReturns!
10th January 2007, 09:43
yeh, its great to see that even the world no.1 can check his draw and go...
"oh for f&ck sake!!!"
in chinese of course!
Luncheon
10th January 2007, 09:46
thats a nice thought.....thinking of Lin Dan being unhappy with his draw!
I spose it could be inconsequential if there is a dodgy line call in the 1st couple of points........maybe Taufik will just walk off again!
TheChosenOneReturns!
10th January 2007, 09:51
its those dodgy malaysians again, rubbing their hands and giving dodgy draws so their man Wei can have easier passage in his home event!
who though are the line judges going to call against in that first round match?
could go all the way!
Luncheon
10th January 2007, 09:55
Maybe there will be some Korean linejudges over in Maylasia to cause Taufik some trouble.

Bao Chunlai, Chen Hong then Chen Jin.... who would you replace to make it tougher?
That Lin Dan/Hidayat draw is amazing! Though if the Asian cup is anything to go by Lin Dan gets off to a better start in events. Would love to have seen both their faces when they found out about the draw :D
Reckon the judges will be in favour of Hidayat, he has a much better standing in Malaysia than any of the Chinese, especially as he can fight the Chinese and win.

Lin Dan isn't having the best of luck at the Malaysian Open after his supreme bottle crashing experience at last years event!
Its a conspiracy!

A favour returned on Chinese soil no doubt. Home advantage at it's best!
Lol Luncheon, that's what Lee Chen Wei is hoping!

Also Markymark you'll be happy to see that Susan Hughes squeezed into the main draw which will maybe take some pressure off her?

Disappointed not to see Mason & Bankier there - missed out by 1 place I reckon.
Susan needs to start getting some results cos she's had nothing recently to suggest she'll get anywhere near Beijing.

My moneys on Peter Gade Chentianson winning the first Super Series.....oh if he hadn't have got injured, those couple of years ago......he would have continued his domination!!!!

Interesting there Luncheon, can see him losing in 3 in the semi.

Its a bit harsh that there is no qualifying for ladies doubles, yet there is for everything else!
Surely there are enough ladies pairs who would like to play.
Yeah Smurf I'll take your bet...2 doubleO 7 I reckon will be Gade's year! I bet he gets to the final!
(Think we ought to call this www.BETBADDERS.com ... site support could make some money here!!!!)

10th January 2007, 11:00
Must mean the scots girls were not entered then marky?
If there is no qual? Thats pretty poor for the first super series of the year.
That in effect means you could have entered kimmy baby and been main draw of the super series!
TheChosenOneReturns!

You would need to find someone mental enough to play with you though!

I'm not sure how it works. Maybe if all 32 accept, they don't have a qualification? Doesn't sound right though.
TheChosenOneReturns!
10th January 2007, 11:12
think they would have just a small qual draw, 5 or 6 pair qual draws happen all the time
the scots girls would not be the worst in that main draw either.

Gail & Nathan to play Robert & Jenny in the 2nd round. England did really well in the mixed - but kinda crap in everything else.

Yeah Smurf I'll take your bet...2 doubleO 7 I reckon will be Gade's year! I bet he gets to the final!
Bit o' good news for you sir, Lin Dan was beaten in the 2nd round by Sung Hwan Park, which means the winner of Gade/Chen Yu will play the winner of Park/Jonassen in the Semis. Looking good for a Gade final, and that's got to give Lee Chong Wei some confidence too. (Though he's got to get past Chenlai and Chen Hong yet...)
And Wong Choon Hann is 1 set up on Chen Jin! Come on!!

Lewisio
19th January 2007, 17:42
Flick - on match or set point, the opponant will try to jump the serve, so if you flick you can catch them offguard and then although you ave given away the lift, you are in the ascendancy!

Remember, where fear leads to.... you know what im talking about Obi.
You have much to learn my young apprentice.
Lewisio
19th January 2007, 17:57
Fear of what?
If I were playing you - you have said you would serve short - thus if I'm receiving I presume ur gonna serve short, so if I jump it I'm gonna be on top of you! Thus if I'm serving I'm guessing that ur thinking I'm gonna serve short and you will try to attack - if I then do a good flick - ur in a world of trouble!
the old double bluff tactic!

Righto Lewisio, heres the scenario.
Scores 29-28 (I was out on the beers last night and despite this god knows how you've managed to take me this close)
Im serving at 29, I look over the net and I tell you im serving short, im that confident of your ability to handle the occasion.
I serve short, you jump the serve, now forgetting first of all that the umpire would fault you straight away for your brown trousers moment of eagerness, your guaranteed to either
a) recive serve straight into the net, or more likely
b) lift it out.
Either way.... you lose.

Have to agree with the chosen one here, on that score I would always be expecting opponent to flick if they were younger/less experienced. Someone jumping the serve is always going to put themselves in trouble assuming its a decent serve. Maybe even serve in court a bit at there body since they are going to be leaning over trying to rush it. It does take a big set of stones to serve well and short on game point though!!
TheChosenOneReturns!
19th January 2007, 18:47
Flip the scenario a bit Lewisio....
Its 29all.... your serving. (i know, i know, your nervous even thinking about it... dont worry about it) :D
if you had the set of stones to serve short regardles, and you still lost the match.
well.... the chosen one would salute you!

The Chosen One speaks the truth.
Yes,it certainly appears that Lewisio's fear has led him to the 'Dark Side'.
A good low serve at 29-28 shows that you have passed the final test,my young apprentice.
(It also shows that you have the balls of an elephant!!).
Main negative about rps(which I support) is that a game/match can be lost by a serve out or into the net.

Well Gade put his money where his mouth is and it was nice to see Robertson and Emms fight quite hard before loosing as your never sure how much they are going to put into it.
Though yes Candra and Tony loosing to anyone is pretty shocking
