Does anyone know of where I could get my hands on heat and Ice packs that dont actually need to be microwaved/frozen? I have strained my shoulder somewhat and would like to try to reduce the pain straight after playing.

hello chosen one (are you related to The ChosenOneReturns by the way?)


from ski shops and outdoor camping type shops you can get two types of heat pads.

one comes as packs with small tea bag sized bags and the chemical reaction when squeezed together generates heat that lasts up to about six hours. they can only be used once.

the other type is a gel pocket about 10cm square, with a "button" inside then when snapped causes a chemical reaction. from memory they only work once though and don't last so long

don't know of an ice one though

The freezer is always a good place to start, especially for the frozen packs!!

All rather amusing I am sure.... but if you will read my initial post I said something which does not require refrigeration to allow it to be applied after playing even in the unhospitable venues one has to visit.
Admiral are you the gent that does those ad's for cheap car insurance with the better looking bird on your shoulder?

Hey there yeah ther are ice packs u can get that are for medical packs. They're in bags about the size of a bag of peas, u crush the contents, this causes a chemical reaction that releases the cold you shud hv a look around for them. Othern wise theres a new cold gel out tha physios use to put on strained muscles that hv the desired effect. Hv a look around. hope its of some use!

Sainsbury's (might be a bit upmarket for Tooting) have some heat packs from Neurofen, that once the pack is open it heats up and lasts for 8 hours.
They're alright as long as you aren't moving too much, as the sticky bits are a bit useless!
