can someone explain new world rankings when Susan Hughes states she has risen rapidly after two first round losses/

Probably because loosing in the Superseries events is worth more than getting through a few rounds of the EBU tournaments since the level is so much higher.

Also ranking point structure changed at the start of the year, benefititng those who generally reach the latter stages of events.

There will be fluctuations and it will even out again over the coming months, pre Olympic qual phase.
