Thursday Qualifing Day,

Good day for Nathan Rice came through three rounds to join Raj and Carl Baxter in the main draw.

Not so good for AAmir, won his first two rounds comfortably but played badly in the third to a Dutchman so he is out.

Solenn Pasurell who was seeded in the qualifying won though to the main competition to join Pittard and Cann.

The whole of the qualifying day saw some good matches and it was fairly tough to get through the day.

Looking forward now to the main competition.

Baxter and Ouseph both through two rounds into qtrs.

Rice lost his first round match

Pittard lost in second round to a strong Russian girl

Cann through to qtrs.

Langrdige and Eldsethed lost in second round to No 1 seeds

Well Baxter had a tough quarter final against Kevin Gordon from Guatemala and despite winning first game 21-13 lost the next two 17-21 17-21. Good match shame about the result.

Cann won her qtr and then faced Julianne Schenk in the semis. Only one result likely as Julianne was on top form. Schenk went on to beat a Ukrainian girl in the final.

Raj won his qtr and played the No 2 seed Kasper Odum in the semi. Strange game neither player seemed to be able to smash and put the shuttle on the floor. Odum won quite comfortably in the end.

Mens doubles final between Howard Bach / Kahn Malaythong v two Danes was extremely fast and furious.

The Americans were all over the danes like a rash and there was only one result likely. Their speed around court and power of the smash was breathtaking.

Felt sorry gor the German girl Nicole Grether who snapped her achilles playing with Schenk in the doubles qtrs. Thats her Olympic dream shattered.

Men's singles final between Odum and Zwelbler was a survival of the fittest, terrific match. Zwelbler who is coming back from injury had to win through three rounds of qualification as well as the five rounds of the main competition.
