Hi everyone!
I've recently published a comprehensive badminton grips guide (http://www.badmintonbible.com/articles/grips-guide/) on my new website, the Badminton Bible (http://www.badmintonbible.com/).
I would be very interested in your feedback (especially if you spot any errors!).

I'm not sure if Lee Jae Bok would approve!

Exactly...there is only one grip. The panhandle!

Exactly...there is only one grip. The panhandle!
...which Lee calls "forehand grip" (!)
But once you get past the names, Lee isn't teaching anything especially controversial. His "smash grip" is a little extreme, although the principle makes sense.

Glad you like it. :)
"Panhandle" is a dirty word in coaching because beginners use it for overheads, but that doesn't mean it's worthless. It is often useful -- even essential -- for forehand shots at the net, where you're reaching forwards with the racket above the level of your hand.

Thanks Darren. :) I'm hoping to apply the same general method to other topics too. It's early days yet!

I have just had a look at your website and have to admit that I'm very impressed with it. I know there is only grips on there at the moment but the layout of the website has been carefully thought about and is simple to use. There isn't loads of stuff cramped on one page, making it easier to follow. The pictures are very good as you can select the view which means there isn't pages and pages of pictures. Some times you want to read the writing first and you find yourself scrolling down past all the pictures looking for the next bit. I have quickly bookmarked this site as I can't wait to see how it expans. Just out of interest though, what do you get out of this? Are you paid or are you just doing this for free? Either way, you have combined your website making and badminton teaching skills really well.
Keep up the good work and I'm sure you'll a following of some sort!

Thanks for your detailed comments Peter. :)
Just out of interest though, what do you get out of this? Are you paid or are you just doing this for free?At the moment, I get no money from this. It's a hobby.
I would really like to spend more time on it, so I am looking into ways of earning money from the content. For example, I will probably be experimenting with Adsense soon.
If I can make a little money from the content, then new articles will come more quickly. At the moment, my plans are speculative; I have little experience of this kind of publishing.

well for someone who has little experience of this kind of publishing, your doing well so far!
You could put a number counter on the bottom of the home page and see how many people visit.
I give you the thumbs up, as I've said.
I have to admit that at first I saw your thred but never went on the link but it wasn't till some people have said thats it's pretty good that I decieded to check it out for myself, so anyone else reading this, go and have a look.

Google takes care of that for me: Google Analytics (http://www.google.com/analytics/). Thanks for the suggestion, though! :)

Thanks. :)
I'm not sure what I'll write next! There are so many topics; I'm trying to decide which are the best use of my (limited) time.

Put much more on content on their and you will put badminton.tv out of business Mike!!
I think the grip is so important and is often overlooked even by some good coaches. Such small changes can make such a huge difference in the shot you play. Most other sites and books give very basic guides I find.
Still struggle with LJB's panhandle smash grip, I just find it limits your forearm muscles.

Actually, I'm hoping to send some business their way...;) But thanks for the compliment!
I think the grip is so important and is often overlooked even by some good coaches. Such small changes can make such a huge difference in the shot you play. Most other sites and books give very basic guides I find.I agree. The subtlety of a player's grip skills can make a huge difference.
Still struggle with LJB's panhandle smash grip, I just find it limits your forearm muscles. :confused:I recommend you ease off using his smash grip.
Although Lee is correct that there can be a small change towards panhandle for some smashes, it's essential not to exaggerate this change. It's also important not to use it in the wrong situations.
After I first watched Lee's smash video, I started using his smash grip over-enthusiastically. It caused all sorts of problems with my forehand overheads. Later on, when I was discussing his smash grip with BE, they send me a list of problems that exactly matched all the problems I had experienced using it.
I feel that Lee slightly over-emphasises the turn towards panhandle. I also feel that he demonstrates too tight a grip. It's perilously easy to exaggerate this grip, or to use it too often.
My advice would be to go back to the basic grip (http://www.badmintonbible.com/articles/grips-guide/grips/basic-grip.php) instead, and re-establish your confidence in using this fundamental grip. You will probably find that any grip adjustment for smashes comes naturally.
In any case, if you feel that the grip restricts the use of your forearm muscles, then you should probably change it back to one that doesn't!

Yup, I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment so I can read thru whilst nodding in agreement at the fact that I'm already doing it right :D Everytime I read something that I don't do, I convince myself that its all lies and click back to a page which I understand ;)
hah, no seriously... it's good stuff!
