Just had a quick look on the BadmintonScotland site and saw the draws for the for the Nationals. The draws look very small, can anyone say if the numbers are more or less than last year. 22 entries in the gents singles and only 9 in the ladies!! Just read my post of a year ago, the ladies has increased by 3. So i suppose it's an improvement.

Also would like to pass on my condolences to Pam Hamilton's family. Pam died this week at only 49/50years old. She was part of the Roger Mills/Alan Campbell era of Scottish Badminton and was National Singles and Doubles champion a couple of times in the early eighties. She also represented Scotland on over 70 occasions. She was a fun loving character who loved to know every piece of gossp. Another sad time for Scottish Badminton following Eddie Gibb's death just last week.

My mum knew Pam very well and was taken aback by the news of her death. She did think it was imminent with the problems she had but it still shocked her.RIP.

Just worked out who your mum is Ben. Never played against her at mixed tho i did play your Uncle Duncan one year at doubles in either the Scottish Open or the Bells Championships.

I hadn't seen Pam for years as i have been south of the border for nearly 9 years but it was still a bit of a shock.

I cant agree more with you all. It wasn't like that in our day Kevin was it. You were knackered by the time you got to the quarters!! Think I will pop up on Sunday for old time sake

Long time no speak Jim. I was always knackered before i started me being always super fit, and that was just thinking about playing singles!! Perhaps you should have entered for old time's sake!

One of these days i'll get round to coming back up to play in a Vet's event as believe it or not i still haven't fully hung up the raquets. Still manage to turn out for the Norfolk Over 45 team in the Inter Counties now and again.

Gary is down here also but i can't persuade him to pick up a raquet again.

So who do you think will win? Does Bruce stand a chance against the youngsters?

I dont really know to be honest. I am playinng with Callum Menzies tonight to show him how it should be done!! I think it will probably be between Gordon Thomson and the lad Gilliland. Cant believe Bruce is still playing tournaments. Playing mixed as well!!!!!! I think I will be like a cricket bat tomorrow never mind playing tornaments although I really fancy hitting the Vets this year. (As you ahve guessed turning 40 this year!)

No real shocks, and well done to Susan and Emma and Imo for laying their demons to rest and finally getting the job done in their favoured events!

Does Bruce stand a chance against the youngsters? It was a runny nose this year - tough luck for the big Lochgelly man. They don't make them like they used too do they Kevin? Shame his mum is closing her badminton store in Cowdenbeath - another nail in the coffin for Fife feather-whackers. Anyhow, some video highlights of this year's Nationals on youtube - Big Rita's fireplace is looking decidedly bare this year....
