ohhh ye of little faith!

Lefty predicts Andrew Smith to reach quarters then meet LCW or dangerous Dan, take a game off them but then fail to finish it

Rajiv to qualify into the main draw then out 1st round vs. some german bloke

wonder what the odds are of that? more chance of Euromillions methinks

mmm that's interesting. i couldn't get access to the draw or qualifying draw until Monday night. I even had to email Badminton England to ask where the draw was? oh well. I went and watched and it was a good day even though they were running very late!

well here's one surprise... Pui Yin YIP [HKG] - [CHN] Xingfang XIE [1] 22-20 21-19.
and i have just read that Tracey Hallam is injured and so pulled out on Qualifying day. I saw her a couple of times yesterday but didn't realise she wasn't playing. Oh well, over to you Elizabeth Cann. I think the Canadian knocked out Jill Pittard.

Womens Singles League
Winner: Miriam Beales (Yorkshire)
Runner-Up: Louise Carter (Worcestershire)

Is this the same Louise carter that was in the qual of the all england, top girl runner up of Bonanza, next think super series. She should have been in the main draw. imagine if Miriam had played.

Looks like you're right Richard. I think she's one in the same. Shucks, I should have played in that bonanza, I may have won at least one game!

This is what the Scottish Badminton web site says 'The Commonwealth Games medallist (Susan Hughes)won 21-18 21-13 in just over half an hour against Rachel Van Cutsen and now meets a local girl, Louise Carter, who only got into the qualifying as a reserve following a couple of withdrawals (21-6 21-1 13mins).

Shucks, I should have put my name down, not!

Top girl for entering

tango
5th March 2008, 15:08
I agree, fair play to her for entering. Just to confirm that Louise Carter lost to Susan Hughes in 13 minutes. Does that now mean that she is exempt from playing in any more bonanza's?
ps: the girl who won the bonanza at birmingham 2007 is a third team player for her county. always such a high standard at these bonanzas, us league players don't stand a chance!"!

There was another name I hadn't heard of, as well... who was this Charlene Fiellateau?!

Some real upsets today, and a good win for Blair and Bankier against Flandy and Vita in particular. Well done also to Clark and Kellogg for getting through, Clark and LIndley also took a good one and have the Japanese pair who beat Kido and Setiawan next. MD draw really has been decimated by upsets.

Anyone there to comment? Thoughts?

Rachel HOWARD [ENG] v [ENG] Charlene Laticia FIELLATEAU 21-4 21-7 0:12
for want of not being disrespectful, the same could possibly be said about this girl too? she also played in the 2006 All England and was knocked out in the qualifying in 8 minutes with 11/0 & 11/2 scores.

I played the qualifying a few years back (before super series) and it was one of the best experiences I ever had. Never stood a chance but really enjoyed it. Fair play I say - good on them.

I am very busy here at The All England but I did get a chance to snap a foto of one of your English qualifier players coming off court, I think the helmet is to protect them from the speed of the Super Series jump smashes!

Slightly different cos you know how to play the game. These players were very weak - moderate club players.

Wohoo, Clarky and Nathan got through their respective mixed matches and I now get to watch them in the quarter finals! With Nathan & Gail being put against Blair and Bankier, at least we'll have a home-grown pair into the semis, although shame one has to be knocked out.

I cannot believe how many great matches there are this evening... Lin Dan vs. Kenneth Jonnassen, Lee Chong Wei vs Taufik Hidiyat

I'm going to say Taufik > Lee, Lin > Kenneth, although I'd prefer Kenneth to win!
