View Full Version : Final Premier B Weekend.....

....is this weekend at Milton Keynes.
Nottinghamshire and Hertfordshire look good to go up and will have an almighty battle to see who wins the title. Derbyshire look doomed and will probably be joined by either Hampshire 2 or Warwickshire 2, but a number of teams are not guaranteed to be safe.
Will be interesting to see how much Uber/Thomas cup affects the stronger teams. Which could mean that Yorks 2 benefit and get into a 'promotion' spot. Which would open up the argument again about whether they should be allowed to compete in Prem A!
Any thoughts?

Hertfordshire don't look as though they'll be affected by any Thomas/Uber Cup selections as according to their website:
"Our squad is all confirmed - Richard Doling, Dean George, Victor Liew, Lee Perry, Jon Austin, Gail Emms, Natalie Munt, Suzanne Rayappan, Rachel Howard, Kelly Matthews & Laura Cousins."
Don't know about any others though.

Wow. Will be so interesting. Notts will win all the men's, herts will win all the women's. WIll come down to mixed - maybe a Gail v. Nathan final match!

Has Gail recovered from her illness.
Also they probably won't be last match, 2nd mixed will technically be last and they are sure to play 1st mixed. :D

I wouldn't be too sure. Both Gail and Nathan have played at second this and last season.

Rachel Howard injured her ankle last weekend and withdrew so may not be fit.

It won't really matter. Kelly Matthews is good enough to beat any of the first ladies' in the teams Herts have to play.

Yorks 2 to within a couple of point of Notts after the first round of matches. Notts play Derbys in the afternoon and win 9-1. Yorks 2 lose quite heavily to Herts. Herts and Notts in Prem A next season.
The mighty Middx lose to Notts 3-7 and then reverse that score against Dorset. 4th spot secured I think.:D
Not seen the final tables after today but Derbys and Hants 2 are the bottom two I think.
Best wishes to Peter Mills who picked up a bad injury in the third end of a tough singles against Nathan D'Cruz in the morning match. Flat out on court for over an hour until the ambulance turned up

I heard that the injury to Pete was a dislocated Knee-cap. Hope it's not going to be too much of a long term injury.

No official news yet, I believe - apparently his knee is so swollen it's not going to be possible to do a scan until midweek.

Herts win Premier B, with Notts runners-up - both team undefeated all season with the final match between the two teams ending in a 5-5 draw.
Derby picked up an almighty two rubbers out of 30 over the final weekend and were very much the weakest team in there this year. Hants 2 were also relegated, failing to win any matches this weekend, despite leading Cheshire 4-0 after the singles and then going on to lose 6-4!
Yorks 2 were comfortably in 3rd, with Middlesex comfortably in 4th. A 10-0 win over Derbyshire gave Avon 5th spot (I think).
