Well said Mark! I, for one, would love to know what is happening in the juniors but it is impossible to get hold of any results unless you actually know someone who took part.

Snap ... I only get to know when I bump into one of the juniors or select few who are in the know.

I think the BAofE could help remedy this situation by publicising junior results on their website.

It's like some secret society! I thought that was what the BAofE site was for.

Hi All,

It all boils down to the people who have access to this information making it readily available to the masses.

The results for UK junior badminton gets fed into the ESBA/BAofE. In the past I have requested information & results about tournaments, ESBA results etc. The responce has always been dissappointing, unfortunately :0(

To be fair the BAofE do put up results in their magazine so it's not total neglect, but you have to be an affiliated member of the BAOfE to receive the magazine.

I agree with Mark, Junior success should be celebrated in a big way.

Hi Mark,

You may remember that during the U15 8 nations event in Enschede team photos were taken and published on the organizer's site together with the tournament results.
Pressing organizers to take similar initiatives might help to develop the coverage of junior badminton in the future. You might want to consider to persuade the England U 15 team manager to take action in this matter.

In Holland the national U 15 team has a page on the BA's site where the team publishes results, tournament reports, player profiles and photo's.
Perhaps you can try to organise something similar in England, either on this site, or on the BA of E site, or maybe even better, on the SBA of E site if such a site exists.

With all this in mind you should still be aware that as a rule, national or even regional media are not interested in juniors, so all the hard work will have to be done by the juniors themselves.
When you can raise the team manager's entusiasm for actively seeking a wider interest in junior badminton, you should provide the necessary tools, like recent action photo's and player profiles. Perhaps you can go as far as appointing a team webmaster if the expertise is present.

You should not be to disappointed that Enschede did not get to much media coverage. Holland is small, and we had the T&U prems during that same week which took all the media time available for badminton.

I support your claim that the potential champions of tomorrow are worthy of today's attention, yet I fear we stand with very few.

Erik
