My club has recently been told that the hire charges for our courts are going up by 66%.

We have had it pretty good over the years but we do find this quite steep. We have to cover hire charges, feather shuttles and association fees to the WBU.

We normally charge a flat fee for each 1/3rd of the year - ie: off season with one court, 1st half of the season - 2 courts, second half of the season - 2 courts.

My question is not so much how much other clubs charge but how do they charge it ie: membership fee + user fee, additional league match fee for players playing in a league match etc etc.

I would appreciate some ideas to take forward to the club.

That's quite a price hike!!! Did they give a reason? We have a membership fee which covers us from September to May. This is all inclusive so there is no fee per club night. there is additional charges for people who play in matches. The match fee is charged whether it is a home game or not.

Membership fee is worked out before the season starts, based on projected members, to cover courts and shuttles.

We have a winter club fee of £70.00 which covers from Sept to end of April.
A summer fee for a lot less court time for the remainder of the year at £25.
Half price for juniors/students.
We then charge a match fee of £2.50 adults,£1.50 juniors.
Guest fees £4.00.Our court costs are £6.25 /hour and we have 11 court hours for club and a match on a Wednesday night. We play with Yonex 370 nylon shuttles and have a membership of about 35.

We have a subscription of £35.00 a year, covers all year, £2.00 match fee. We have a membership of about 40, 4 teams (each of 4 men, 4 women), each team generally playing a match a week, sometimes two. We play matches on a single court church hall, club night in a 3 court hall once a week.
