Our club currently uses Yonex AS30 feathers - a shuttle that we find of good quality and durability, however they have become a little too expensive for our club recently so has anyone any suggestion as to an alternative brand with similar characteristic.
The shuttles must be suitable for both club and league matches.
PS: we've tried red Ashaways but found them WAY too fast/long for our hall and not as durable.
Thanks for any help

The Yonex A30 are one of the better shuttles for the price. What is your budget per tube? Let me know and I'll dig around for you and come up with some suggestions.

They have to be less than £8.50 per tube

Have you consider the Winex Tournament brand? In Canada, they sell for around 8 and a half quids.

Same problem with us, Mathhew. We used Yonex AS20-s for some time - they are not so good as 30-s but still a bit cheaper.
Have anyone found some Joerex, which feels the same as Yonex AS20 - AS30? (Joerex 100-1 and 888 are not so good)

Sean - not sure who distributes winex in the UK?
RSL are obviously a well known make, however they seem a little pricey - probably not in our range.
We are about to try Carlton AG-4 and 6, DSL Apollo's and Yehlex tournament.
All retailing from £7.50 to £8.25. I'll keep you informed.

What about Snowpeak??

Found Yehlex cheap but it shows when you use them.
DSS Apollo seemed to last the course but flew at 200MPH even when slowed.
Used Snowpeak for years until our supplier changed to Gosen. Some "alternative" Snowpeaks started doing the rounds and they were awful.
Tested the Gosen, three different speeds and liked a lot - until we started buying tubes. It appeared the test samples were of a better standard than the retail shuttles.
RSL very pricey.
We use AS30's now as do most other clubs in our area. Consistently the best and reasonably priced.
I always think that the pay off of using "cheap" shuttles is that you go through so many so quickly that there is no saving.
Disclaimer: A personal view. I'm sure they are all great. ;)

Has anyone tried Talbot shuttles? They are excellent and around £9/50 doz. Our club (membership 35/play all year round and use around 200 doz per year)use to use Yehlex Championship season before last and found that our shuttle costs are now down about a third. We have used the Talbot shuttles for a season and a half now and are very happy with them.
I'm afraid as with most things in life, you get what you pay for and if you go for a cheaper shuttle then you'll end up using twice as many.
My experience is to shop around for a top (grade 1) shuttle and use it. You'll use half as many as if you go for a low grade shuttle at a couple of pounds per dozen cheaper.
Yonex AS30 are good. But we switched from them to the Yehlex because we were using too many. They cost us £9.50/50 doz. We considered the AS40 but they were too dear to buy at £10.50/50 doz and the Talbot shuttles lasted just as long.

I don't think there is a Winex distributor in the UK anymore but you can always enquire Taiwan.
If you like, I can get you the Winex Tournament shuttles (speed 78) in boxes of 25 tubes/box (1 doz/tub) at reasonable prices (probably around 8 quid/tube for 25 tubes and up).
