I am fairly new to Badminton. In Australia, the badminton tournaments (along with cycling races) are broken down into grades a,b,c & d.

Tournaments are then 'open' to the different grade of player. So one tournament may be open to c & d grades only, while another one open to a,b & c.

I would love to go in more tournaments, catering for my level of play, but they either seem to either cater for juniors, county & national players, or just plain open only to players of a certain league.

Cheers,
Sean

Hi Sean, good to hear you are keen on playing tournaments. This may sound silly, but if you are a resident in England, then can I recommend the Duchy of Cornwall Open tournament. I am the Chairperson/Secretary of the event, which is an annual event played each September down here is beautiful Cornwall. I will very shortly in conjunction with this site, be promoting our Championships. The event attracts all standards of play, and should a player be unfortunate to meet the no. 1 seed in the first round, we also have a plate event for all first round losers, so that somebody coming down from Essex for example can be guaranteed at least a couple of games. Hope this has encouraged you a little and please watch this space for more info, on the Cornwall Open. This years' event will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday 21st and 22nd September. Regards, Linda Collins
