My son has been playing about 18 months and has entered a satellite event. They play with plastic shuttles in his club, but at the tournament it was all feathers.
My questions is: which is better to play with, plastics or feathers, or do we not have a choice as all tournaments seem to be feathers?

Andre, i was speaking to John gig gurling yesterday about the very subject of shuttles and he assured me that snowpeaks were the best cocks to use because the BAOE use them all the time.

I live near this quaint little hide out that sells a variety of sporting gear, especially badminton/squash. It's called the Pink Coconut just East of Hove in East Sussex and it's jsut delightful!
You can get your hands on these soft ended feathered cocks (!!) - some heavy weighted.
Use feathered birds as and when you can Andre, that's my advice to you.

Is this a Satellite tournament, as in part of the Satellite/Challenger/Grand Slam series of tournaments?
If so, then this tournament not a suitable level for your son if he's only been playing for 18 months and has only played with plastics.

Has any one or club changed their shuttles for the new season. If so what to and why?

I've only ever played with feathered birds for the last 10-12 years and have always found them the best to use.
Maybe I'm old fashioned and stuck in my ways, does anyone know of better equipment to use?
