Hi there Phil. My name is Carmel Buckell. I would also like to start playing in Vets competitions but have arrived from South Africa, am not registered with a club as yet. I am 41 years young, live in the Teesside area but unfortunately do not have a car. I have got my priorities right though, and have my trainers and racquet.... Is this a possibility for me to enter with you in the Mixed Doubles - I don't think so as I presume I would have to be registered at least with a local club if not the BAofE. Anyway, respond back if you feel anything could be done. When is the closing date for entries ? How could we bring travel arrangements together. I remember playing Yorkshire League about 22 years ago at the York Railway Institute.. this was on a Sunday pm. We travelled there and back the same day, so I suppose it is feasible. I don't even know to what standard I play here in the UK, but in South Africa I played Vets for my Province (County) in the South African National Vets Tournament. I played Premier and 1st League for my club. Played club nights twice per week and league every fortnight. Unfortunately, here in the UK I am only playing socially at present (and with plastics !!!) but am trying to keep my eye in and enjoying the exercise. Anyway respond back with your comments/thoughts. Thanx.
