Far to much money is being wasted on funding players.over the past 5 years money seems to have been handed out to any junior who could hold a racket!! thse players then go off to university and use this money to fund the student union bar. Granted there are exceptions of people who do train hard through university and progress thou the majority don`t. Shouldn`t there be a more rigorous talent spotting process by a non biased person? Should University students recieve as much lottery funding/if any, as players who go full time? At the other end of the scale there are the players who are reaching there 30`s and who have never really made the break through, shouldn`t these players be moved on to free up funding for future players? My point is that with the lottery money going out of the game it has to be used more constructively.

By how much is the lottery funding decreasing? Would it increase if we get a medal at the olympics? Do players receive more lottery funding if they achieve better results?

I think you need to look back at when we had great players,Darren hall,Anders Nielsen and Peter Knowles and ask them what they got as youngsters.
They got nothing and had to get results to get any form of sponsorship.
Today younger players are giving up because at 17-18, 5-7 thousand isnt enough to live on.To me its all to easy for them and they today are not even getting the results like the names above.
I think today coaches should have no say in who gets money and it should be handed out on results like it was before.
I also think that results like Peter Knowles winning the Wimbledon open should have an effect on the young players funding who didnt perform against retired players and this should be done after every tournament.
Its all to easy these days, they want more money otherwise they retire but cant get the results to warrant it.

I would like to see money spent on delevoping a national league for clubs.
The county system is fine but what about the rest the enthusiasts who are not quite good enough for county play, or live in strong counties and are unable to get a place.I am sure an interesting and exciting competion could be developed. In my opinion this is the sort of thing the B Aof E should be developing to encourage the masses who play the sport into playing in a wider focused competition.Local leagues, after a few seasons of seeing the same old faces leads to tedium. So come on BA of E do sometiming with the money that we can all see and that will introduce something NEW.

Agreed Geof but i dont see that our county system is ok.Hants and yorshire are doing ok but most counties are finding it difficult to field teams anymore.
The BAOE this year have managed to overlap the Irish open on a Premiere A weekend after telling us that they wouldnt do this so to me they are not that fussed about the counties leagues.
