Peter Gade has given me four signed pictures of himself. I thought it a good idea to get this web site going in the right direction if I where to give them as a prize for the best written technical badminton article.

So here is the deal.

I will send you a signed picture of Peter Gade if you are judged to write the best technical badminton artical in your age group. Age groups are :-

0-11
12-15
16-19
20+

(please be respectfull of this system of age groups so that the younger members have a good chance to win a prize).

I will also expect you to have a sensible login name, and a profile which includes your age and the club or county at which you play.

Articles should be entered as an ordinary thread and have the title "Technical Article" so I know you want it to be considered. I will monitor the threads and gather the articles. After a couple of weeks I will list all the items I have seen. If your article does not appear on this list then let me know quickly. A few days later I will tell you who who has won. At that stage you can send me your address by "private message" so that I can post you the autograph.

Some examples of technical articles could be

"how to move around the court"
"how to increase the power fo your smash"
"how to defend like a brick wall"
"how best to train physically for your age group"
"badminton - the thinking mans sport"
"how to out think your opponent"
"deception - my new shot"
"how to train children"
"why my coach is simply the best"
"how to hit a harder smash"
"the backhand smash - a description!"

What a fantastic prize Martin, is there any chance you could make the competition a once in a life time prize by adding a signed photo of yourself in the All England semi final of 1974....the one with your cream yonex tank top and basin hair cut!!

I am writing my article as we speak....my heart is racing, what an opportunity!

By the way Martin, what is it like to mix in such celebrity circles?

I suppose I should have expected a negative response from a positive attempt to raise the technical content of this site.

Too much mouth !!

martin
you seem like someone who is quite knowledgeable about the game, i assume you have played it at quite a high level.
if so why resort to comments like this?
if people are interested then they will respond, both positively and negatively.
come on now old chap lighten up and follow the thread.

you are not as slow as your profile suggests!
sorry but i did feel that MD-H was a little pretentious in his opening paragraph of this thread.
good to know he will carefully read all his replies.
hope it doesn't take him too long!!

hello there
dear dear martin, i thought this forum was entitled badders banter (dictionary definiton "good humoured joking")
seems to me you want to monopolise this site for your own self gratification.
i think by the number of replies on here you've got your answer.
please lighten up or use the other parts of this site to promote yourself.

Dear Mr East,

Quite simply Peter gave me some signed photos and rather than just give them away I thought it might be a stimulating thought provoking task to make a little event out of giving them away. badders support thought it was ok so I made the post.

I am sorry you thought my idea was an attempt to monopolise the whole site. Any one can post and I simply try to post with a reasonable technical content.

I had hoped to raise the level of post to a more technical level instead of the usual back biting which so often happens.

I cannot really understand your hostility to me but if I have offended you then - "sorry".

Martin, there has been a concerted effort made by a few ex players, some well above their station to discredit this site, rubbish the BAofE and take pot shots at those who have something sensible to say. Just ignore them, it is their insular view of the world that discredit the efforts of those who want to promote badminton.

MDH, I would love a Gade autograph. I think your idea is a good one. I am working on it.

Dear Mr Dew
apology accepted,i was only sad that you chose to finish your initial response to earlier comments with "too much mouth".this was unnecessary.
the forum is badders banter and we should remember this.
Dear Mr Stevens
i am neither an ex-player or someone who is "above his station".i find your comments arrogant and insulting.if you are prepared to advise the world of your badminton background then perhaps we can judge the validity of your comments.
i think people like you have contributed to the perception many have of badminton.there is a lot wrong with the sport and we all have the right to comment.

Vic if you have not been party to the 'fools' who have been trying to rubbish the comments of many of the posters on this forum then may I apologise. My background is irrelevant on this point we know for a fact that there are a couple of people who have made fools of themselves on here. This is a place for debate and discussion - not personal attacks, a resource we need to be grateful for before it is taken from us. Unfortunately some have used it as a foundation to snipe at the BAofE and known players which is such a shame.

yeah Vic you tell em,why have we got to say its all rosie when it aint.

John, maybe thats telling you something if explayers are dissing the system, its called first hand knowledge

JohnStevens

Have no issue with you or anyone making a point, it is the way it is done that counts. You will gain no respect in your argument if you try and belittle people or the BAofE. By all means tell it how it is which is always the best way, get a reasoned argument over and everyone will listen. Act a fool and make rude statements will only get your good argument ignored.

Did anyone submit anything or did the thread just get hijacked?

Martin Dew-Hattens

Did not get any articles.

However I did send a few picture autographs of Peter Gade to those that asked for them.

Case closed.
