Does anyone know the website for the draw of the Danish Junior this weekend?

There is not one - its not that big an event.

There is however broadband access at Gentofte Badminton Club so I might be able to post some results as they happen on the Saturday/Sunday.

The draw is available only on paper as far as I know.

This is very vague, obtained from brief phone calls and text messages but so far,

Under 15's - Chris Adcock and Michelle Cheung in semis of singles - doubles are still being played.

Under 17's - Tom Dunlop - semis of singles.
and Jenny Wallwork - semis of singles

Tom and Jenny Wallwork in semis of mixed.

Dean George and Morton Spur (Denmark), Mark James and Peter Fearns in semis of doubles.

Jenny and Ruth Coleman semis of doubles

Under 19's - Raj Ouseph in semis of singles

Matt Honey and Harry Wright, Robin Middleston and Chris Langridge semis of doubles

Robin and Sarah Bok, Matt and Rachel Howard, Raj and Caroline Wesley in semis of mixed.

As I said this inf is given to me in very brief messgaes so maynot be competely accurate, I believe there is also another English ladies pair into the semis of the Under 19.

Will have more information tomorrow.

Well, what good results. So we could have two team golds then. All this looks very good for the future of English badminton. We must have some very good players coming up.

Excellent, thanks Teresa for the regular update. Perhaps you would consider doing this for every Junior International!!! I am sure I speak for quite a few of us.
Again many thanks and well done the English players, that showed the rest of Europe eh!!!!!!

This is very good news for english badminton. It seems that despite some negative comments made towards steve butler, justine and the rest of the junior coaches, the juniors are in fact performing and producing excellent results. Martin Dew even comments in the thread re: rajiv ouseph, that it was the strongest english team he'd seen in a long time!
congratulations to the players and all credit given to steve butler, justine and co.

I think I would be a nervous wreak if I did it for every International,I checked every text message three times before I posted and I still feel bad that I somehow missed Ellie Cox from the first posting. (as you can see from my profile) it was just information gain from Jason and Dean, the under 19 information was a joint effort.

We were so close to three gold medals, the under 17's lost to Copenhagen yesterday. Copenhagen have gained the services of a Bulgarian young lady who seems pretty useful, so useful that I understand she won the ladies singles and an Estonian young man who also seems pretty useful. We also lost Andy Ellis to injury which was a big disappointment to the Under 17 team, Andy and Dean. Dean and Andy won the doubles in Lagenfeld and Malmo in September (without dropping a game - I hasten to add). Hence Dean playing with Morten Spur this time - half of the Danish No 1 pair whose partner also had to withdraw due to injury. Dean won with Morten without dropping a game again.

They are on their way home home now, tired but happy.

So we were looking at three gold medals,
the future is looking good and of course they all want to be full time players...........and do you think the BAofE will give me a job of press officer? I would be good at that!!!!!!!!!!!

Were the Dutch playing in this tournament? If they were not, would it have made any difference to the final result if they had been?

georgelarge

The Dutch did play in the individual events at the u15 venue, but they do not have any money at the moment, and could not afford to play in the team event. They only had one strong ladies doubles pair, and would not have got a medal at u15.
I would also like to add that Chris Adcock and Michelle Cheung were refused entry to the u17 event, and it was expected that they would reach the final. Furthermore, the last time the u15's won the team event was 1990,and I have been a Coach at this event since 1991.In general, the physical differences between us, and the Danes and Germans at this age means we hardly ever are able to win at the younger age groups. We do however compete by u19, and quite often win. This year, we have two exceptional players in Michelle and Chris, together with a very weak year for Denmark. The rest of our team is much stronger than in previous years, and it was nice for us to put fear back in to the other European Nations. I have to say that next years age group is quite weak, and I would be surprised if we can retain the Team Event, but we will certainly try. Well done to all of the players-it was a privilage to be part of such a fantastic TEAM.

Congratulations to all those who played in Denmark, some great results.Looks very promising for the future. But hard luck to those playing in the U15`s next year as your coach doesn`t seem to have much faith in you........Only joking!

I would like to say well done to all those players out in Denmark for some absolutely fantastic results. But i would also like to make two special well dones to two people. Firstly Justine who got an awful lot of s**t on a thread earlier about the europeans and i would hope that all those people who gave her so much stick are big enough to say she has done an excellent job here. Secondly, Brian Wallwork who has just retired as England manager, it seems a fitting end to go out with a team event gold and i wish him all the best in the future.

Some great results, everybody should be so proud. Rob, I think you will find that those who criticize individuals do so from afar and don't know the facts or have a personal axe to grind. None of them use their real names so it is easier to hide ;)

Well done to all the players in all the age groups in the Danish Cup!! It is great to see England performing so well.

Jason's post has reminded me of the 1994 Danish Cup when the U18's won team gold and the U16's & U14's won team silver. (Before the change to odd years)

The U18 team included Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms. The U16 team included Liz Cann & Dave Lindley and the U14 team included Liza Parker and Suzanne Rayappan.

Liza with partner Tom Peters won the individual Mixed title beating Bjorn Joppien and Petra Overzier of Germany in the final.

I also recall that Gail & Nathan won the U18 Mixed title and I think Mark Constable won? the Mens's singles.

Fantastic results for 2003 - keep it going!

With regard to Justine getting some stick about the europeans. I think you might find, if you ask the players, that Justine has changed her approach. Instead of charging into pastures new like a 'bull in a china shop' she has now tried to build some sort of relationship with the players -of all age groups - Well done everyone, coaches, managers and mostly the players for all the hard work they have put in.
