Satellite vs Challenger series

Can someone please tell me the difference between these two series run by the BAoE.

What level would you need to be at, to play in these ?

Ask me after April 12 weekend I am entering the Sat tournament in Acrington, having been asked by a friend to play in the doubles he has warned me it will be tough but it is a good day/night out I have not played at County standard or anything like that but I thought I would go for the experience. I am also playing in the vets in York the same weekend again just for the experience and because I just love playing Badminton. I play at local league level Div 2 Mens and Div 2 mixed.

I have played about five satellite events this year. They are enjoyable and there is definitely a mixed standard.

There is a difference. Challenger is higher than satellite. Challenger is normal national, top county and the players that reach the finals of the satellite events.

Satellite is more average county players, top juniors and top league players.

They are enjoyable events but in my case you have to work at it.

Well Brian, after giving you time to recover from your tournament on April 12,how was the tournament and what standards are playing ?

Sorry this a late reply but I did go to the sat competition in Acrington. I lost in the first round singles scoring 3 and 5 and in the doubles 12 and 8.The standard was very good and i enjoyed the day I actually stayed the full day and enjoyed watching good players close up, whether I would enter again I dont know £11.00 per event for 2 games plus a 2 hour drive. The following day I played in the York vets, having just turned 40 and I will definately be entering more of these comps won 2 out of 3 in doubles but the whole day was extremely enjoyable everybody very friendly and helpful, the Sat tournament was a bit more serious.
