Define an inappropriate thread site support, just a question?
I was just wondering why you have kept on david lindley's post on another thread[wimbledon elite players]just out of interest tell us what relevance that had on the thread. Is this double standards.

As per our forum rules...but more specifically we can't condone constant digs at individuals (or organisations) without any substantive evidence.

We are all passionate about many aspects of badminton, including the way it is organised, but constant sledging doesn't offer a reasoned argument and without a balanced view the threads degenerate quickly.

Most of the deletions and removals are due to complaints by members of the site. Our aim is to provide a platform to discuss badminton and appeal to the majority of badminton players and supporters who want to have a say.

hear what you are saying but i havent read any sledging that wasnt warranted.
If people choose to disagree and call you guys then thats their opinion, personally its unfair that you take side on this as its one persons opinion, just my opinion though?

You would be surprised what is perceived as being acceptable. Certain posts can get between 10 and 20 complaints.

The forum belongs to the community, it is up to the community to police itself and we are fortunate on this forum that people care enough to complain.

Most of the time the complaint isn't about the subject matter but the way the it is written. There has been a great deal of unnecessary aggression towards the BA of E and certain individuals. If the tone of the post is changed to give a reasoned argument then people are much more forgiving.

unlock the rajiv ouseph thread. people complain and don't want it but just as many want it to still be running. if it's run by the community then let it be, i'm just saying that 1/2 or more of the community want that thread unlocked so people can express there views and plus it's the most popular thread in badders history.

I think the point is that it is not the critisism itself that Site Support are clamping down on...but the manner in which it is made and the often personal and insulting language that is used.

Constructive critisism is far better than simple insults

I have to admit John i disagree with your statement.Ive been reading most of the post over the last few weeks and i havent felt that people have been going over the top.
People obviously feel strong about these subjects, enough to put it on a post.
Yes there are some that micky take and they are chucked off, however most post have not of late which means they were not that insulting to site support.
I believe in freedom of speech on here and i didnt read any insuting posts of late.

As per what has been said over the last few months. If you are not happy the way the site is being run please leave and find another forum.

We will continue to delete posts and threads that are inappropriate.

crikey - you certainly are a bitchy lot on this badders site.

and as for Site Support - methinks someone is getting a bit carried away with their own self importance.

How about instead of removing offensive threads but removing the people who send them? Seems to me that some people appear to be being extremely offensive to different cultures, nationalities and sexual preferences but are still on the site? I am all for freedom of speech but some people are going too far.

Larrylamb what are you talking about!!

The site died on its arse the last time the "colourful" characters left now they're back its lively again.

These people do actually contribute to threads(in between the banter) but all the moaners can see is the other stuff. They only come on to moan and then never post again when they're gone, a bit like you really!!

Take "soup" for instance.

This geezer has totally lost the plot over something which even i can see is a total wind-up. Hilarious!!!

You sound like a victim of the current "PC" brigade Larrylamb maybe you could sue for compensation?

;) Mr Magoo
Yet another person with no real name. What is it with people who don't put their real name on their profile? How can anyone take people seriously if they put these 'anonymous' posts on. I have no problem saying who I am, yes I am Jo Sullivan, veteran (kind of!!) of the circuit, likes a good laugh etc. I am all for banter but I'm afraid to say some people are drawing a fine line. An yes it would be really 'hilarious' when someone complains properly like they did on the Welsh badminton site and the forum ended up being removed. Forums are there to be used wisely, to express views on the actual topic and not to slag off ( and i'm sorry if you see it as being colourful! ) other people's views. Everyone is entiltled to their opinion on a topic - yes a topic. I can't remember seeing a topic entitled ' lets all slag off scottish badminton players and if anyone disagrees with me I'll call you a pufter' DO YOU? And as for not coming on to post very often, I actually am busy doing a proper job. Are you calling yrself Mr Magoo because yr an eccentric millionaire who refuses to wear glasses and can't see properly? ;)

mrmagoo
24th October 2006, 23:27
You don't post because you're doing a proper job?!! So you don't spend anytime on the internet then?
Purrrleease......tell me another!! You don't post because the topics are boring and same old same old.

You've only joined up to moan.....says it all really. Can i introduce you to woody?

I"ve read the threads and quite honestly if you're stupid enough to take the bait then i have no sympathy for you whatsoevaaa!!

Well mr magoo

Thankyou for answering my question indirectly! You obviously can't see properly! And yes I get on the internet when I can inbetween teaching the younger generation of our society. Think that's an important job don't you? And yes I am moaning cos i'm sick of reading tripe! End of. Perhaps there will be some decent threads to read later lol!

Any forums that i've been on which have been heavily policed have lost the more colourful members, become VERY boring, lost more members and ultimately ended up VERY dull and not worth bothering with at all.

You can ignore the tripe just as you can turn a crappy TV program off if you don't like it.

It's the internet, it shouldn't be taken seriously, let the kids play.

what kind of wars are you shooting for?

Peter Warman

Wasn't expecting anyone to reply!

Don't know who to fight for during this terrible war, whilst I agree the world has gone mad and a bit of banter is great fun, there are those that take it too far.

To be far, when you see a thread which has been deleted, it makes you want to read it even more, even though it might have been a crap thread.

It is indeed like watching telly, if you don't like it then *insert naughty word* off!

Have to agree that most people do write interesting stuff among the banter, if you want "wacky" threads, go to badmintoncentral as most people on there can't even write properly!

Talking of which, is anyone here registered to badmintoncentral as I tried to register but it doesn't like my e-mail address and said to contact them, which I have done, a few times, and nothing!

But I only wanted to register so I could have a search button to search the threads.

Nothing beats Badders.com thread........................:p

I was hoping to poke some fun into this top to create mayhem and run away chuckling like a madman but I've seem to gone all serious..........................:eek::eek:

Quite right, but many of us out here would hope that you can differentiate between serious debate and concerns and plain snotty remarks. Keep those for other blogs and sites

i myself think that you are right...nevertheless, there are lot of immature posters...i hope SS won't ban too many ppls...ironically speaking, these inappropriate comments "create" the needs for a "SS".

how can we get the Admiral and the Southern Monkey back

If there is anything that is that bad it useally gets deleted by site report before I read it which makes me want to read it even more!

Unless this is a marketing tactic to keep me coming back............................
