Two average players that gel well can beat two superior players who play doubles as individuals, discuss.

Discuss. is that a command, maybe on your next thread you could instruct everyone to jump off a cliff or play on a motorway.

I think this is interesting. Not enough combinations are tried at most levels whether club or international standard so potential magic in pairs is never unearthed. Many clubs and counties will just put the best players together as pairs. The main reason for this? You couldn't have a pair who were perceived to be outside the top ten in the club or league playing, can you ;)

Whats the weather like tommorow mate.
Michael i dont think that counties play their best players together in partnerships, they tend to split their strengths so the batting order is stronger for both their pairs.

Interesting question. The answer is yes and it happens often.

Two average players will do quite well as long as they compliment each other. i.e one is good at the net and other is good at the rear of the court. They can in some circumstances cover each others weaknesses to the extent where the pair has no weakness that is easily exposed.

I agree with Martin's comment. The average pair tends to work harder for each other. Plus the underdog tag might push them to overcome the stronger players.
