I’ve seen some great shots (all on the receiving end!) and think this is part of badminton, which needs to be re-learnt. All the old boys have these shots.

Here are some of my favorites :-)
The Jumping power smash with grunt (optional) !
Which slices across court as a steep fast drop.

The telegraphed drop shot which turns out to be a flick of the wrist and the shuttle driven at your head !

The whole body moving one way and the shuttle returned the other.

And the person who’s shot preparation is the same for either drop, clear or smash and even they haven’t made up there mind which shot it will be as yet !

Best Rgds

I've been working on a few deceptive shots of my own. Here are a few of them:

1. As the shuttle comes towards you in the air, look as though you are about to take a swipe at it, but don't. They thought the rally would continue, but they won the point.

2. When the shuttle goes up to the forehand side, shout 'LINEBALL!', then hit the shuttle cross court.

3. If the opponent hits a clear, let it go over your head then turn around and shield their vision of the shuttle. Then slowly, very slowly, shuffle backwards. When you have shuffled all the way back to the net, quickly smash the shuttle onto their side of the court. If they dispute the point (I know some of you won't be fast enough to pull it off), silence them with 'Its my call, its my call...'.

4. Keep switching the racket from left hand to right hand. I've tried this a certain England player (I wont name and shame him), and he was so confused by the end of it, he was holding his racket between his legs. A few flick serves and he was in hospital.

Ill continue to work on these deceptive moves and let you know if I discover any new practises.
