Do people think that the scoring system should be changed to Eg: 3pts for a win 1 pt for a draw and 0 pts for a loss and having games for and games against, because it's possible to win the league and not win all your matches within the current system, whereas a team which does win all its matches could miss out ??

It has to be said that is does seem odd that a team can win the county title and yet lose more matches.
But I think that rubbers have to count for something because otherwise you run the risk of producing a number of meaningless games.
As soon as a team is 6-something down, the remaining matches will have nothing to play for.
But what they should do is rank teams according to matches won first, then rubbers won and then games won.
That way the team which wins most matches actually wins the championships, but equally every rubber in every game becomes vital.
What do others think?

I agree with the idea of ranking the results according to matches won, then rubbers etc...as you have described Ian.
In some leagues the points system includes awarding additional points for 'turning out with a full team', 'arriving on time' and other 'external' issues that have a massive bearing on the final result.

I agree that something has to be done - currently Hampshire have won all six of their games in the County Premier A, but are third as Yorkshire and Essex have won more rubbers. They have both lost one game!
Apparently the same thing happened to Essex a couple of years ago, they won all the matches but lost on rubbers to Yorkshire - that cannot be right - if you beat everyone surely you are the winners.
I think you do need to bring in a different scoring system, perhaps like they do in every other county division 3pts for a win etc. Why are Premier A & B different?

Thought I'd drag this thread up from the past. Over 2 years have gone by since Trev posed that question, yet still nobody has answered. 2 years Trev has been twiddling his thumbs. The man still doesn't know the difference between Premier A and B. Let's put him out of his misery.
