I don't know who has been selected but if on the same basis as the u17 the whole idea seems to be losing it's meaning.
I thought the concept was to select the top players based on the 4 challenger tournaments and the nationals however all sorts of tournaments were awarded points and we ended up with weaker players qualifying. Have a look at the competitors for the u17 finals and you will see what I mean.
As the net is widened it appears that appearances gain points rather than results.
Lets go back to only the top tournaments counting then perhaps we can have a true finale to the season.

Arthur King, the under 17 grand finals weren't as strong because top players were injured or couldn't be bothered to travel the distance for 3 games of singles max.
dean george pulled out. tom dunlop pulled out. if you look at the under 17 rankings list a lot of the top six singles players were there.
you had andrew ellis, jason marshall, richard pulford, ben beckman, are all in the top six. dean and tom didn't go so the next best were selected.

The event is on May 29th and 30th. Invitations go to top points scorers.
There are rankings on BAOFE website that indicate who they are likely to be. Chris Adcock and Michele Cheung must be favorites if fit and available.

Oh i would bet any amount of money on those two winning if they played. they are far the supreme players in the singles event.

nobody specific - did you see the girls list then also look at who played.
John, where in the rules for qualification does it say that the English national rankings decides who qualifies. Again I would say it is supposed to be the 4 main challengers and the nationals - ok in most cases it will be the same but have we changed the rules to exclude the Scots who travel to challengers.
Don't say we have taken the huff after the quad, I thought we were above that. If it had been based on the above rules a couple of their u17's would have qualified and we could then have beaten them again
Could someone please make clear the rules for qualifying

For the Under 17 event points were awarded for how far you got in any JC tournament including Select and Nationals. The points available are published at the start of the season. The best four scores only were counted and totalled up. Top six singles and top four doubles were then invited. Most scots only played two JC select events at most. So the rules were not changed to exclude the Scots. I do not have the lists with me but from memory only Kareena qualified by right, having played three JC selects.
The under 19 girls was hit by injuries which meant a number of under 17's played up and thus allowing lower ranked under 17 girls to be invited.
The under 19 mens singles, mens doubles and mixed events were full strength.
I can not be sure the same applies at under 13 and 15 because i am only a spectator not an organiser.
My reference to the rankings was purely to help people guess at who may be invited to the under 15 event.

John,
When you say JC tournament does this therefore include not only the selects but all the other tournaments where the top players do not enter.
Is there a grading of points if this is the case for the non-select JC tournaments.
Also are there higher points awarded for the nationals.
