The draw for the Danish Junior Open is released. Distinct lack of English names - what's up ?

just had a look at the draw using the reference you provided, looks as if there are no non-Danish (or very few) entrants.
possibly budgets for travel have all run out at this time of year and studying for exams takes priority

The opens doo clash badly with examinations at GCSE and A levels as far as i know so as you would be ther for a few days it likely happens on a examination date. So no go

Myself and Scott Evans had entered from Ireland but had to withdraw due to Scott being injured and it clashing with my gcse's. My little brother had also entered the U'11's and may have won it as he beat one of the top danish U'11 15/10 15/0 last season. Unfortunately he decided not to go also.
Well, 4 Dutch top players U13 (Hans van Os, Jacco Arends, Selena Piek and Kirsten Pastijn) do participate though. The tournament does not seem as strong as the (Viby) Aros Junior Cup, but we hope it will be worth the 10 hours auto trip.

(and yes my son did win the U11 singles event)
Call that 0.5 win for England.
Martin,
Congratulations, but...
This event was not as strong as may be expected from an event in Denmark. The Dutch top players U13 easily won all their matches. The only (slight) opposition came form a Hungarian (!) delegation.
Results U13: Boys and girls singles first en second places for the Dutch players. Boys and girls doubles first places for the Dutch players.
So I don't dare to call it a 4 - 0 against Danmark based on this event.....

I think some of the problem is splitting the event into elite and M streams after U.11. They should make it a genuine open like the Aros Cup, there is little incentive for people to travel from abroad and not get a crack at the best players because they are automatically rated M. Likewise little incentive for Danish elite players to enter and only play each other.

Hello all.
Its important for you to realize, that when a danish tournament is said to be for M- and A-players in Denmark - then at least the 30 best boys and 30 best girls from U13 to U17 are not able to participate. So a tournament like the Danish Junior Open in Farum is NOT relevant for for example the best english players. If you compare to the Aros-tournament - the level of the players is much higher i Ã…rhus because the danish eliteplayers (E-players) are allowded in to this tournament.
Best regards to all of you!
