Best of luck to England tomorrow, taking on Denmark in the first match of the Thomas Cup. Can anyone find a tournament website where we can keep track of their progress?

Pity it was 5-0 against the Danes, thought we might pick up one match

Does anyone know the result of the New Zealand v Germany tie at the Thomas Cup. As usual it is not on any badminton site although the tie took place over 24 hours ago.
GERMANY bt NEW ZEALAND 4-1

England lost 3-2 to Japan, winning the two doubles.
England lost their final match 3-1 against Thailand. Ghaffar put in agood performaance against Ponsana losing 13-15 15-13 15-11. Clark/Robertson continued their good form beating the top Thai pair in three. South lost the second singles and Blair /Lindley lost the second doubles. Given that Thailand have two doubles in the world top 16 and their no.1 singles player has been world top ten it was always going to be a difficult match....

Judging on scores alone, it looks like England weren't far away from winning this. Ghaffar lost a close three-setter, and the second doubles also looked to have been tight. It's a shame, a quarter-final place would have been a real achievement.
However over the whole competition, England lost all eight singles matches. At least all the singles players are in their early twenties and should improve, but its the same story at each team event.

Well done to Denmark with a great achievement beating Indonesia on home ground to make the Thomas Cup final. The Danes have a very experienced team with strength across the board and this stood them in good stead in the semi despite Gade and Jonassen losing in the singles. They also held match point in the Uber Cup against Korea and were within a hairs breadth of appearing in both finals.
It is good for European badminton and great to see China challenged in this way...the Swedes managed to do something similar for years in table-tennis must be something in the water in Scandinavia!

Congratulations to China on completing a 3-1 victory over Denmark in the final.Unfortunately Denmark's second doubles were unable to take the score to 2-2 when they were well beaten by Sang & Zeng. All credit to Denmark for giving them a good run for their money. The Chinese have an awesome team and it would not surprise me to see them making a clean sweep in the Olympics , although I do not expect Kim & Ra to be beaten.

To bad Kenneth didn't win the second singles, if he had won it the pressure on the second doubles wouldn't have been that big.
What about England then? You need a reliable singles player. Can Rajiv Ouseph be your next star maybee?
