well done, we can organise the big events and do it well.

Do not let us down again therefore by the embarassment of cancelling the invitation singles as was the case last year. Only two major events to organise in domestic competition and you couldn't fit it in - joke!!!!!

They're probably too busy picking up the dummy you keep spitting out!

Have you not thought about if there was a valid reason for the competition to be called off?

Grow up!

ENGLAND SQUAD:

Men:
Nathan Robertson (Notts, 86 caps, Born – 30-05-77*)
Anthony Clark (Notts, 67 caps – Born 1-11-77)
Robert Blair (Leics, 40 caps – Born 7-08-71)
Andrew Smith (Hants, 11 caps – Born 3-06-84)
David Lindley (Notts, 16 caps – Born 23-04-79)
Rajiv Ouseph (Middx, 9 caps – Born 30-08-86)

Women:
Gail Emms (Herts, 59 caps – Born 23-07-77)
Donna Kellogg (Derbys, 70 caps – Born 20-01-78)
Tracey Hallam (Staffs, 72 caps – Born 23-03-75)
Natalie Munt (Herts, 19 caps – Born 8-11-77))
Joanne Nicholas (Lancs, 34 caps – Born 10-10-77)
Jill Pittard (Warks, 12 caps – Born 05-11-77)

Squad seems a bit large for my liking, I agree that you want a range of players too choose from or to cover injuries but there is a large gap in quality between some members of the squad so just seems a bit pointless. Also, no space for the national champions in the team, interesting choice.

Interesting, but absolutely right choice. England aren't going to win any of the men's singles rubbers, so you take the person with most potential. Jill v Liz is a tight decision, and I'm guessin they went on world ranking.

Maybe they just wanted to pick an England team?

Was looking at that too and thought it was a typo, the old vet Blair from 71

I take it if Blair has senior caps for Scotland he is now English by nationalisation?

i agree with the team. when watching nick kidd it frustrates me that he doesn't play a more attacking game. he needs to get a badminton brain to develop further. jill has been doing just as well as liz at the ebu's i've been to if not better. raj is a good choice as he does have more potential than nick in my opinion.

Don't know what Nick Kidd you have been watching this season !!

Most will tell you he has to learn how to mix it up more, not everything is all out attack, vary the pace of the shuttle, move it more round the court, develop some touch !!

I agree with the badminton brain part though !!

If i had just won the Nationals only to find i couldn't make it in my national team i would be wondering whether there was any point me entering or i might as well of lost in the final for all the good its done me! Raj does have more potential but should Kidd enter the Nationals next year if Smith doesn't because i don't think its earnt him any thing in the way of funding or squad selection.

i've seen nick play all this season abroad in the ebu's and his results aint that good and he has lost to players he should beat easily. you say he has learnt to mix it up and then agree on my comment about badminton brain-same thing isn't it. he should use his smash more and be more aggressive like he is in england-i just don't understand. he won nationals but raj has done better internationally which this tournament is.

Yeh i Don't think Kidd has any ambition to do well abroad. If you look at his player profile on the forza website his ambition as badminton player is 'To be National Champion' that kind of speaks for itself.

I did not say he has learnt.

I said he has to learn to mix it up more, and agreed with you on the badminton brain part.

We are disagreeing on the attack part. I would say he struggles when he plays against players who can nullify his attack, and so why he is not doing so well internationly.

Read the post Ben !!

fair point,

but he knocks it around too much now-why have they told him to do that more. there is no intent in his game to hurt anyone-when he hits a shot he doesn't seem to hit it with a purpose. that is what he needs to get better-with that he would be a top 20 player because his physical condition is up there.

Well i went along and got tickets last week where the box office said they weren't really selling well. And i'm sure the only thing that would be on the SBU site if they had would be sell out.

I got the Monday - Friday one but i'm working and can only get the Friday off so i might only get to see the night games if i manage over after work :(

Will have to wait and see what the crowds are like coz i'm sure the badminton will be top notch.
