Right, here goes...
When Im at university I am at the University of Warwick... When Im at my Mams I am in Llandrindod Wells, Powys... When Im at my dads Im in Llantwit Major, Glamorgan...
Can anyone give me an idea of clubs within these areas please?! I have tried internet searches and general sports centre enquiries, but they tend to list only general clubs, that rarely cater for more competative play.
I do play badminton at the Uni Of Warwick, but as there sessions are very busy, you are lucky if you get 3/4 games in 2 and a half hours. Still what you get is usually great in terms of skill and fun. Ergo, looking for somewhere around Coventry/Leamington etc.
I would relish the chance to play more regularily and more competatively.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!

I can't help you but I can sympathise. I play for Durham Uni and want a club to play at at home and no-one seems to be able to help at all. I've tried the internet, calling people and everything. It seems v difficult to find anyone who really wants to help let alone clubs that play during the holidays.
I know how u feel,

Hi Sulekha.
Yes, its very frustrating!
I dont know what your home town is like, but if it anything like mine, it is incredibly apathetic - unless you are a rugby or football fan/player, there is no catering for you.
My greatest sporting fear at the moment is having to return home; my game has improved no end here at Uni (Warwick) and it will literally all stop until I either find another Uni or I get a job in a bigger place.
Thankfully, Paul Harris and Sean Smith have given me some possible lines of enquiry.
For anyone interested, the sites are:
www.covbadminton.co.uk (Coventry)
www.northpowysbadminton.co.uk (Powys)
www.cdbl.org.uk (Cardiff district)
I hope you have some luck finding clubs near your home!

Hi,
Regarding Coventry, I remember there used to be a few decent club nights on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays. If you know where Central Sports is in Coventry, then pop in and ask the guy who owns it. He plays in quite a few of them...
There is one in Barkers Butts Lane (I think), off the A45 before the Rover Cars, which play typically 8-10pm on most weekdays. Another is at the At7 centre next to the big Sainsburys (nr Aldermans Green).
The one in Barkers Butts will be nearer to Warwick U.
I too was in the same situation, the best way is to track down every leisure/sports centre in the phone book in your area, and ask if a badminton club plays there. If they are not to your standard, someone will always know of a better club for you.
There is also the exclusive Coventry racquet club (can't remember exact name), which is at the bottom of Stoke.
Happy Hunting

Hi Adam, Although I do not come from the Bournemouth area, I do know that there is a David Lloyd Centre at Boscombe where Dorset's Martin Wells coaches (or used to). Unfortunately I do not have a telephone no. but I am sure you would be able to obtain it from directory enquiries or visit www.118500.com
Or if you prefer I have the name of the Dorset County Secretary. If you care to IM me I will give you his details. I do not wish to publish it on a website.
Hope this is of some help to you.
Regards,
Linda Collins - Hon. Sec. Duchy of Cornwall Open Championships.

Adam ... if you found some club info about Bournemouth could you post it here? I live in Finland most of the year but will be working in Bournemouth in July/Aug and also want to play some competitive badminton (esp. singles) during the summer.
If anyone has any links for Bournemouth I'd really like to see 'em.
