Just a general question because I am genuinely interested, but what sort of physical training do the top flight badminton players do?
Im not talking about skills as such; more the physical conditioning etc.
I have been assuming it is some form of plyometrics...
And finally, does this conditioning differ between countries?
Cheers!

Ok, I'll put it another way an no one has responded!
What do you coaches (existing and budding) out there teach in your leasons besides general badminton skills? I refuse to believe you only go through technique...
Or, rather, what do you encourage in your students as part of their general lifestlye/training etc?

Martyn,
if you check out the IBF website, in the IBF Shop section you will find a book: 'Physical Training for Badminton, by Bo Omosegaard'. Should help!

Martyn,
as an after thought, if you log onto Jake Downey's web site http://www.badmintonbooks.com/
you can view 'Get Fit for Badminton'. It's an old book, but well worth a look
