Has there ever been a time when a badminton racket has come in handy for another activity?

In the past I have used mine to 'remove' a bird that got caught in my living room (released from the grips of a cats' jaws. The RSPCA told me to put it out of it's misery as it wouldn't survive! - it was very distressed and so was I!)

I know someone who used theirs as a protection against a burgular!

And I've 'drawn' mine from my bag whilst taking the last bus home after a university match. I was worried about being followed and felt very safe with my racket to hand!

People underestimate the potential of a badminton racket, in a non-badminton situation!

I once investigated some noises downstairs in the middle of the night with racket in hand. If the police asked why I used a racket to attack the intruder I would have claimed that I was practicing my serve, or smash!

My son uses my racket all the time to play the "guitar". He probably reckons it is better than playing the "air guitar", and the performance he puts on is always fantastic. We've also "played" our rackets at times on court in between points, because a lot of the time we train with music playing in the hall.

Hi,

When i was quite young (about 10) i used to get one of those seaside badminton rackets out (that had about 4lb string tension) and see how many gnats i could kill. Out in our road there used to be quite alot of gnats on summer evenings, so i would jump up and have a swing to see how many i could get.
