I just wanted to point out that while reading all these threads in the forum, I have noticed that everyone seems to know everyone else, and some are related by marriage, etc. Not that I'm feeling all left out and alone down here on the southern tip of Africa, because I can now read about everything going on by keeping up to date with the threads. I'm curious to know how long members at Badders have been playing for, and on what level everyone plays. I'm hoping to be in the U.K. shortly, and have every intention of joining each and every one of you on court, if you'll allow me to play a social or two! I've been playing on and off for about 24 years, having first picked up a racket at the age of 6. My parents and siblings all play badders, as well as my aunts and uncles, so I guess it was destiny that I would end up a badders player at some stage!

Hello Colleen,
Yes you are right a lot of us know eachother, but badders have loads of people looking in from far and wide. Where are you coming to in UK?

Geoff, thanks for the response, I hope to be in the U.K. by the end of June! I'll definitely be bringing my shoes and racket with ... as long as no one minds the fact that I usually laugh more than I play!

Hello Collen,
I have just returned from Cape Town. Still wonderful weather for the time of year, mostly between 25 and 30.
If you click on 'About Badders' you will find a brief history on the level we have played at.
Look forward to seeing you when you arrive. What area are you going to living?

If everyone filled in their 'User Profile' (click on someone's name to see what I mean), then this would be helpful.

Hi there Colleen, don't forget, that you shouldn't feel so lonely down in the Southern Hemisphere. Remember we have made contact through badders.com and it was only 15 months ago that we were playing league against each other (and tournys)in Durbs by the Sea !!!! So we can still stay in contact even though you are "down below" and I am "up above" (and I don't mean in heaven - not yet anyway). Missing the Durbs badders crowd immensely. Where in the UK will you be coming to - would love to hear from you when you arrive. Good luck when you get here - is it a flying visit (holiday) or emigration ? Anyway hope you enjoy your badders experience when you get here. Cheers.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Cape Town, Steve (Darlington) but the big question is did you manage to fit in any games of badders while you were there or were you too busy travelling around the wine farms ???!!! Was it your first trip to the Cape !!!! You must have at least enjoyed the sunshine (personally I've forgotten what it looks like !!!) I believe that Morten Frost is there at the South African Badminton Academy coaching the up and coming South African players - did you manage to see him at all ???

I couldn't agree with you more, Sean Smith, with regards to members adding their profile info. It seems to me that it would be interesting to find out who the members are that are enjoying this site, to what level they play (and where) and approx. age, etc. All everyone needs to do is click on "My Profile" (on the yellow diamond on the left hand side of the screen) and "go for it".

Okay everyone, by popular demand I have now filled in my profile, properly (not an ounce of facetiousness contained therein, HA HA). Now if I could only figure out how to use access the profiles to see what other members are about. I do consider myself suitably rapped over the knuckles for not doing so in the first place, Sean, sorry. I will be staying in the Derbyshire / Manchester area when I arrive, and as far as I can make out on the map, Carmel you are up in the north, but I have every intention of bringing my trusty racket and joining you for a game, just cos you said you miss Durbs by the Sea so much! I do miss seeing you on the circuit here, not that I ever played against you, because you were far too good for me! I hope to be in the U.K. by the end of June/beginning of July, just in time for beach badminton so I'm bringing my bikini!

Whoops, my puter was not working so well, so it posted my response twice, so I'm editing the second one so as not to be repetitive!
