Just wanted to let you know, since I am quite sure since you played for Pinetown you knew the Uys family. Eugene Uys (brother to Antoinette) who played for Pinetown and later moved to Johannesburg, was killed in a motor accident on Friday on his way to the Free State open. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Eugene. He apparently suffered extreme trauma to the head, and yesterday afternoon, I am sure after what must have been the biggest decision of their lives, his parents switched off the life support system.

So if you remember little Eugene (who was not so little anymore) and his family, Liz, Piet and Antoinette from badders at Pinetown, please remember them in your prayers.

Dear Colleen, thank you for letting me know about Eugene. How tragic - I got such a shock when I read your message, I am in tears and my heart goes out to Piet, Liz and Antoinette. I used to play in the same league team and partnered Eugene when he was a little younger (what a terrible loss). I heard from Liz via another badminton web site and she emailed me, but the email address she gave me at her work, I couldn't get thru on. Do you have an address for them or perhaps her email at work, as I would like to get in touch, even if it is just to send a card. Still cannot believe it. Anyway thanks again.

Eugene's funeral will be held tomorrow (31/5) at 2.00pm in Benoni. I only have an address and Not an e-mail address for Piet and Liz : 53 Howick Gardens, Webb Street, Northmead, 1511, R.S.A. I will send through an e-mail address as soon as I have one, but I hope this helps in the meantime. Feel all icky inside, and it is such a tragedy.

I will be in U.K. hopefully towards the end of July now - have been asked to stay and play a tournament before I leave, so I have delayed my trip. Once I have all the details and travel arrangements I'll get back to you. Will be staying in Banbury area on arrival, visiting friends in Derbyshire and then probably working in or around London. Hope to see you too when I get there!
