Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms suffered a shock first-round defeat in the Yonex
Korea Open in Seoul.
The Commonwealth champions
took the first game 21-11 against Jonas Rasmussen and Britta Andersen
before the Danes hit back to win the next two 21-11 21-13.
It means the Olympic silver
medallists have just one more event in Singapore next week to find
their form before the world championships in Madrid in mid-September.
Andrew Smith put up a brave men's singles
fight before being edged out in the second round by Olympic silver
medallist Shon Senung Mo of Korea 21-19 22-24 21-14.
But Commonwealth champion Tracey Hallam is through to the third round of the
women's singles.
The big result of the day for England was
David Lindley and Chris Langridge's win over Indonesian fifth
seeds Luluk Hadyanto and Alven Yulianto 21-19 18-21 21-18.
Third seed Emms made up for her mixed
disappointment by partnering Donna Kellogg into the second round of the
women's doubles with a hard-fought win over Lena Frier Kristiansen and
Kamilla Juhl.
In the mixed England's two fifth-seeded
pairs of Robert Blair and Natalie Munt and Anthony Clark and Donna
Kellogg are through to the second round.
